I get it, you're excited to ride but...

I know we've had a long winter and obviously everyone is itching to ride. The season hasn't started yet and people are already crashing and getting injured. If you choose to ride in this weather, you have to be extra cautious. Cars are still not used to seeing us out there and all the salt, sand and potholes etc is not helping either. My bike is still in storage and won't be out until a couple of good rain falls and a consistent 10+ degrees.

Keep the shiny side up!

Common sense is not so common.....

Same story every year and no one ever learns...

What? What are you referring to? People being in over their heads, riding in cold, or riding with stuff on the ground?

Tires have less grip in the cold - not common sense - common knowledge to most motorcyclists.
Riding beyond your skill level - happens throughout the whole year
Crap on ground - just be aware of it and adjust accordingly (Includes not riding when its wet, dark and below 0)

Just because you chose to keep your bike stored, who gives you the right to come in here and make a thread lecturing people?

Advice is welcome but the holier than thou attitude is not needed.

It is a great time of the year to ride as most of us do, since when this community has turned into a bunch of drama queens

What is this I don't even....

April 1 marks the day I park my car for the season. It's nice that a motorcycle is a toy to you, but it's a very practical piece of machinery to many of us.

Fight on, weekend warriors.

Enjoy your 2 months season.

gtam sucks the life out of motorcycling more than the insurance premiums.

I was simply saying to take it easy and wait another week or two if at all possible. In no way, shape or form did I say that I am better than you or anyone else. I was jut sharing my experience. last season I managed to put around 17,000 kilometres. I love riding as much as the next guy but the weather is not on our side just yet.

I'm sorry you see my post as a "lecture" or stated in a way of that you feel is condescending, that was not my intention. If you see it that way, then you are right, there is a drama queen in this conversation and it isn't me.

I'm not disputing that, my car is practically "stored" for the season since I use my bike for almost everything. As I mentioned earlier, I put around 17,000 kilometres last season and I don't think I'll put on any less this year.

I Agree people get a little to excited... but everyone has to use there own caution .. its best to wait for the roads to clear up a bit before people head out. Ride Safe everyone

But seriously, I'm a newbie, and it's all about riding for the conditions - if you think it's too dangerous to ride now, it's never going to be safe enough for you....

I've done almost 1000 km since Saturday. What's the big deal? Take it easy and you're fine out there. :dontknow:

It all went down hill in May of 2008

1000 km of straight roads is serious business ;)

What else is there in S Ontario? :( You could after all be blessed instead with wandering cattle, 35 degrees and straight roads.

some people sit around and create drama online, some are out riding already...

also, if no one ever goes out because cars aren't used to bikes being out, how do they ever get used to us?

They don't - just ride as if you are invisible......as in general unless you catch the person's eye...you are.
