You ever ridden one?

From what i've heard and seen, the ones made in 08 and after are pretty solid. Yes the 06 version was crap but they've made some improvements on quality control after 08.
 
Motorcycle City in Richmond Hill is a Hyosung dealer. Apart from knowing this already, searching "Hyosung Dealer Toronto" results in Motorcycle City being the first result.

He wanted to know what everyone though about them...and the general opinion is that the build quality is horrible =)
 
I have an '09 GT250R and it's been a good bike for me. The fit and finish is a little lower on the Hyosung compared to the big manufacturers, but it does have a two year warranty (opposed to the Ninja 250R 1 year warranty) and I imagine most people would upgrade by that time anyway.

Truthfully I might have preferred the Ninja at the time, but being 6'2 I felt a little silly sitting on the bike. So I went with the Hyosung and no regrets.

I bought mine from Mitchell Cycle (north of London) as they offered me a better deal than the three dealers I spoke with here in the GTA and they offer free delivery here too.
 
views on Hyosung vary greatly. most people hate it just because their friend of a friend's buddy from internet said its a crap bike. lol

my review on it, some things can be improved like the tires, break pads, clip ons material, chain. but its becuase of these things they can offer it a little cheper. all of these parts are available from aftermarket companies that are direct fit.

parts can be a bit of problem to get sometime if you want to get aftermarket parts, because most of them come from overseas. stock parts are usually available through the dealer within 3 business days. so they say anyways.

but there are certain things available in GT250R that makes it the best 250 for me anyways... the physical size and dimensions, V Twin engine, upside down forks, fuel guage, dual front breaks, even a clock. :)

GARBAGE BIKES! Plus there is like 2 post below yours talking about hyo-junk (hyosung) I am not brand specific, Ill buy what I like so I'm not being bias by saying not to buy a hyosung, the price and looks of the bike are nice but the fairing break easily, parts break easily and yes I have dealt with one as a friend had one for a few month and sold the bike shortly after constantly having issues with the bike.

Either save your money for a better bike or get an older used bike.
 
I never had an issue with my 09 GT250R, it ran perfectly and nothing ever broke or fell off. Having said that a buddy of mine had an 06 GT650R and that thing was a death trap. It was wrought with issues and the worst part about it was the dealer network, the vast majority of Hyo dealers are absolutely useless (especially the ones within the GTA).
 
Being direct competition for Ninja 250, the Hyosung 250r is not the worst choice but if you want to sell it in a year, it will have nowhere near the resale value of the Kawasaki and if you want to keep it for a while, the build quality is lower than Japanese bikes, although I have heard and read that it's improving.
Dealer network is tiny and aftermarket parts are not as plentiful as Ninja's.
Personally, what I liked least about it is the sitting position, high with the fuel tank cover too bulgy, bike felt top heavy.
The only plus side I see is that with the small V-twin, it should have more low end power than the Ninja. Unfortunately it is also over 40lbs heavier and weighs pretty much what my SV650 does.

05 and early 06 had a engine issue. I have a later 06 GT650 and its the same bike form 06 late tell 09 when they added EFI.

As for 250, never heard much issues at all

But yes I OWN a hyosung, got a gt650 06 last year from motorcycle city who had a demo one. 4250$ with warrenty , sv650 second hand an't getting that good a deal. In less then 1 season (own it 1 year ina few weeks) its had 13500 km put on it and only one issue. Rubber part between rear cylinder and carb shared off. Its the same part as on carb sv650's and has happaned to them to. Since bike sat a while the rubber dried out so 25$ issue lol. Ordered part on Monday arrived Friday so parts are not to bad.

This is all for the 650 mind you. but ya many people say junk but never owned one. But overall reviews and people who try them usually like them. Are the AMAZING must have, nope but if you can get one for a better price then ninja 250 or liek me gt over sv then buy it. If not then buy the big brand. Many will psot its crap but only looked at one at a show. So take it with a grain of salt

I have ridden a 07 gtr 250 it was fun....i would like to see what the FI ones are like.....ah over time they will get better and get respect.

I ride a Hyosung GT250R that I bought a month ago. It is a fun bike to ride. Powerful little motor for a 250, lots of low and mid torque. DOHC V twin, air/oil cooled, twin disks front, inverted forks, digital dash, fuel gague, black cast aluminum wheels, dual headlights, 17 L steel tank, two tone paint, full fairings and most of all affordable to buy and to insure.
Yes, you can say that I'm happy, but I don't know how reliable they will be few years down the road. Fit and finish is very close to Japanese standards (I've had three JDM bikes).
Hyosung and Suzuki have been partners for past 15 years. The SV650 motor is built by Hyosung for Suzuki. My bike has been built in Hyosung plant in Japan( I've researched my VIN).
