Hydro R/W's and Corridors for ADV's

We know they restrict motorized vehicles but who actually enforces that restriction ?

I wonder if municipal cops can enforce it under the Ont Traffic Act.

Don't think it would be under the Ont Traffic Act....more likely under the criminal code for trespassing.

OK. I'm an idiot...thought that the HTA only applied to MTO controlled roads.

Disregard my trespassing comment.

Reason to ask is I am planning to use a particular hidden corridor for some dirt bike action once things dry up abit.

The one near me has no motorized vehicle signs but there is a trail along it (probably unofficial). The acres of poison ivy do a great job of keeping me from exploring it. At intersections with roads, there are fences without an easy way around.

Some areas seem to be more secured than others. The right-of-way adjacent to the Northumberland forest on #45 has a "No Motorized Vehicles" sign every 30 feet on a wire fence. Some other areas I've seen/been through have nothing.

I expect it's a function of the amount and nature of the traffic and the volume and nature of the complaints it generates.

Why not just go ride legally where you're allowed? SCORRA, Ganaraska, Northumberland?
No need for the drive to those places as I do have access to a nearby client's farm just on the Milton/Mississauga boundary.

He's prepping the land for a small subdivision this year so that area will be off limits due to the construction activity but it is linked by two un-signed and un-fenced Hydro corridors and a single pipeline one that I was thinking of accessing to get around the lands being worked on. The nice thing is both corridors have lots of elevation relief due to dried up river valleys which makes hill climbing enjoyable.

A new bylaw in my area now prohibits use of trails along highway 35. These trails were used by atv's, snowmobiles and dirt bikes forever. I currently have no access to the snowmobile trail from my house thanks to this nonsense.
A trial period with posted signs for atv access into town (for fuel?) has created a mindset here that it's ok to tear up the village streets. No helmets, no insurance, no stopping at stop signs, speeding, wheelies and un plated dirt bikes are observed everywhere.
There is a place for ever type of activity. The new bylaw and atv access now makes the rules rather confusing.
This is a great example of making the condition worse with the town counsel sticking their nose into what they know nothing about.

I've always wanted to do the hydro access roads from Lingham lake Rd in Madoc all of the way to Cloyne. Maybe take 28 back through bancroft for a mix of pavement and dirt. Unfortunately I sold my KLX before remembering this existed. There were lot's of ATVs etc that used this to access the Lingham lake trail and many hunting camps when I was in high school.

That's too bad. Those tracks have been there for many years with little complaint as far as I recall.

Times change though. Perhaps new residents along the Highway don't like how busy it has become summer and winter. Perhaps the highway itself is busier and the OPP/county see it as a safety issue. Maybe both.

There does seem to be a lot of ATV's crawling around out here this spring. Here in Port Hope I see numerous ATV's and side-by-side's rolling down Hwy #2 outside town, and we don't have the bylaw allowing side of the road operation. I also see them parking big enclosed trailers and trucks at the end of dead end roads etc. at the access points to "No Trespassing" posted areas and farmers fields. Chances are this isn't going to end happily for the illegal guys (them) or by extension the legal guys (us/me).
