Does anyone know how to get rid of that shiny greasy leather look ? When I first got the jacket it had sort of matte finish but now it became all shiny. Tried Motul leather cleaner and soap but cannot get that shine off.
That depends on how the shine got there. If the leather got coated with grease, oil, silicone it may take on a shiny surface from the contaminant. That can be washed out using any alcohol based dishwashing soap. Mix 1 cup of water with 1tbls of dishwashing soap and apply liberally with a soft brush of kitchen foam scrubber. This will dissolve and remove the shiny contaminants.
If the leather is burnished, that's a little harder. Burnishing is the shine that comes from polishing the leather with friction. Same thing that happns to buffed leather shoes, cuffs on suede and pigskin coats etc. This needs to be mechanically restored, not an easy DIY project. The folks at Tandy (Mississauga and Markham) can show you how to do this, it involves using isopropyl alcohol or acetone and a buffing cloth to restore the matte to the leather. Test in an hidden place first.
