How safe is your pair of gloves? Pics.

For what it's worth, just so you know velocity doesn't make velocity gloves. In fact there are probably no small companies that own the manufacturing of their own glove (**** bickle sells a glove with their name on it, they might be the exception). There is a factory in banglapakiiraqistan that make the same glove with minor alterations for heroic, velocity, and a few other european companies you've never heard of.
Oh I'm fully aware that most of these "custom" companies have factories in Pakistan, with all the flooding there right now I'm surprised they're still able to stay in business.

fortunately for you maybe! What about the rest of us? lol. I was really interested in those gloves, wish they would have put a small slider at the base of the thumb as well but you probably dont need it.

it really isn't that bad. The thing that needs getting used to is the pinky due to the warrior tech on it. It's a strange feeling not being able to clasp your hand fully at first..but eventually it breaks in. Your hand feels like a tank though ;)

I have a lot of trouble finding gloves that'll be comfortable on a long ride and I'm in the market for new gloves. The bickle ones seem promising, but I'd like to try 'em first. Are there any retailers in the GTA selling them in-store or is it website orders only?

Bickle is in the GTA ;) Just east. Hit up GP Bikes and Royal on the way home, make it worth the trip ;)

Hm, I was at GP Bikes last month and didn't see those at all. I'll have to look again!

He said on the way home. Bickle is in Courtice.
Yes, sorry. I just re-read my post, I wasn't clear at all. I figured when I said Bickle was in the east end you would have looked up his website, my mistake.

I think this is a web based business.. That address is a residential neighbourhood and the website doesn't have "store hours" posted. So one might want to call ahead perhaps..

Yeah, I didn't realize you meant "Go to the guy's house." Some people might take it as kinda rude if you make an appointment to come to their own home and then don't buy anything.

Not that I'd buy $90 gloves just to 'be polite', but that's an awkward enough situaiton that I'd prefer to check things out in a store.

You can buy Bickle stuff at Competition Cycle in Whitby.

That sounds good. I'll check it out, thanks.

It wouldn't be. Bickle is a really nice guy and very easy going, i went the one time to drop off leathers just to get some patch work done and probably spent an hour chatting bikes with him.

Racing-Gloves.jpgThey match the writing on my fairing. Lucked out on kijiji, brand new $35.00 for $200 plus gloves, #POW

That's through a glove. Picture what wouldn't be left if I wasn't wearing them

Sent from my commodore 64 on dial up

If that's meatloaf add more ketchup and put it back in the oven for another 20 minutes

Upgrading my gloves is next on my list after upgrading my jacket -- Currently only have a full textile jacket & pants, but want to get either an A* or Dainese full leather jacket (leaning towards A* Celer atm). For gloves, I have full leather gauntlet-style Scorpions, but they weren't overly expensive and I have my doubts how well they'd hold up compared to gloves in/near the $200 range.

There are what I have now -- Scorpion SG full-gauntlets:

With that said, how do Velocity, Dainese, Knox, and Held stack up against each other? I figure whatever I do get will be from one of those brands, but I really have no idea how they compare at their various price points for each model. Also although I do hear good things about Velocity, given they aren't as 'big' I do question how much testing can be done against the likes of the larger brands (which have more money for R&D and CE testing). Also as I don't really want to exceed $250 by that much, I'm guessing the gloves from those brands I would be interested in are the following:

-Velocity VR Pro
-Dainese Pro Metal RS (not full metal)
-Knox Handroid or Biomech
-Held Phantom II

The Celer jacket is fantastic (almost bought one but grabbed a Tech-1R instead). I have the A* GP-Pro gloves and with 15,000km of road riding they show no signs of wear. I have a second similar pair just for the track and again they show no signs of wear either. Excellent gloves IMO.
