How much Maintenance can I do myself?

Putting it back together you assemble it as a stack and crank both bearings in at the same time, but don't forget to put the spacer in between the bearings or you will have a heck of a mess.
 
Do we have a parts diagram for your bike? won't be hard to figure it out from that,
if your bearings don't have separate inserts then they likely press onto the spacer.
Do you have a part number for the bearings, that plus the axle size will tell you all the dimensions you need to deal with.
If the hole through the bearing is the exact same size as your axle :/ that is either a really big axle or a really tiny bearing, or we must be working on a lawn tractor.
