How much do you pay for insurance?

Didn't feel like starting a new thread was necessary, so I'll ask my question here. I'll be getting my M some time this summer.. if I call up my insurance company, will they adjust my premium? Or will it only take effect once the renewal comes around? (Oct)

you will almost certainly not see an adjustment for getting your M. How long you've been licensed is what matters.

I can think of 3 different insurers we can place the Tuono through even off the top of my head. Email to: moto@nfp.com and one of the moto specialists will figure out which one of those has the best rates for the Aprilia.

I solved the situation for now.
The insurance problem was the nail in the coffin for the Tuono and I made a snap decision and sold it. Ended up buying a new bike that has 998 cc’s and falls under that magical 1000cc limit.

Thats unfortunate, im holding on to the 1100 for dear life! What bike did you end up getting? I cant go to another naked after hearing the V4, the MT10 would be close but its butt ugly imo

I still have my Tuono track bike, it’s just the street bike that’s gone.
New street bike is a Honda CB1000R. Picking it up in a couple of weeks.

Honda?

You surprised me

Why the CB?

Ever since riding the Tuono on the track and experiencing what it’s capable of, it just seems so boring and underutilized on the street. I almost sold it in the Fall and decided last minute to keep it, the insurance issue was the nail in the coffin.
For a new street bike I was looking for something that was more refined, still had decent power but was a little more tame and not “on” all the time. I briefly considered the Yamaha MT-10 because of the sound but I think that would have been my only reason for going that route.
I ended up choosing the CB1000R because it’s got decent power, 145hp, very good handling, adjustable riding modes, up/down Quickshifter, is very tame when ridden in town and at reasonable speeds and looks great. It is also a Honda so I’m not worried about reliability or maintenance costs.
Oh, and it’s under that magical 1000cc limit so insurance is $650 for full coverage and $2m liability.

Just seems…well.

You went from the top of the segment to arguably the bottom. However based on your comments it sounds like that’s what you were looking for. Interesting 🤔

Triumphs have never done anything for me, and the Tuono 660 is an awesome bike and I would love one! But with Two Wheel in Guelph being the closest Aprilia dealer to me (it’s 50 minutes away) that was a deal breaker for me.

Its probably not all that refined (because KTM) but hella fun

2016 tuono 1100 factory
30s married male in Stouffville
full coverage
$1mill liability
full M
>6 years insured
$987.00
TD bundled with truck and home ins. (both were also cheapest I could find)

phew, just got my renewal in the mail. unchanged.
Katatonic's post started worrying me I might get a hike as well.

I also just got my renewal from Allstate, it went up by only 2 dollars. However, I am switching to Pembridge, liability coverage will go from 1 mil to 2 mil and annual premium is $275 lower. Also, from what I am told, if you are with TD or Riders Plus, your premium will probably jump a lot this year.
