How much 1000 K break-in service cost ???

Give your head a shake - the first service is important, everything gets checked over and needs to be checked. Without the first service done by the dealer you may have issues with any warranty claim. There are no cheap hobbies.

Exactly. I think the first check is crucial to see if there are any loose fasteners, leaks etc that the average rider may not notice.

Agreed. Went to PVM for my 1000 k service today and was charged $175. Service was quick. Hyosung has a 2 year warranty and I'll gladly pay that for peace of mind.

Just did mine at snowcity in Scarborough and the breakdown is

Service/Materials: 45.82
Labour: 98.00

Total after tax was 162.53

Just had the wifes cbr 250 first service done for $114, which breaks down to $68 labour $18 parts $14 oil and the rest tax and envronmental fee

Getting a "glorified oil change" as the stealerships like to call it, is a typical noobie mistake.

I wish there was a sticky on here about that. If I was a noobie again, I'd tell them I just had my first service and just need a regular oil change. Save 50%. Either that or just do it yourself and save even more.

Good question...I have to bring in mine for the 1000km service. I called Suzuki in Brampton, they said $200. I called Rosey Toes, they said $80. I guess that makes my decision pretty easy.

Holy crap you newbies are getting SHAFTED by dealerships!! $175 for a frickin oil change and "visual" inspection of lights? LMAO

Common sense ain't so common. Don't you guys think to ask some questions before handing over your cash?

If it was just lights and oil, I'd agree, but as AGS put it...

So far, I've been quoted $180 from Brampton PowerSports, $149 + parts from Sturgess Cycle and $90 from Hully Gully (where I bought my bike). I'm considering Rosey Toes, especially since they come recommended by a few members here.

The dealership cannot coerce you into using their service under threat of voiding your warranty.

The first service is your responsibility as the owner of the vehicle. If you follow the requirements and do the work in your own garage, and document it, the manufacturer cannot deny your warranty. So like I said, you guys are getting SHAFTED on this "first service" nonsense.

They're charging you almost $200 to do an oil change and look over your bike. I'll bet you $20 that they get it all done (including oil change) in less than 20 minutes. You can do everything they do, for about $40 worth of materials.

I agree BUT dealerships will sure as hell put up a fight when it comes to getting warranty work done. If I get my work done as needed at the dealership, they will push to have warranty repairs go through. If the first time they see me is for a warranty issue and I have to prove to them that I performed all maintenance as required every xxx km, they won't push nearly as hard.

You won't have to prove squat to a dealer. They get reimbursed for warranty work just as they would if you were paying them to perform the same work privately. The manufacturer pays for warranty work, not the dealer.

Dude!
I had a 2012 Honda CBR250. The 1K service cost me $314 at the dealer!!!! I thought it was extreme. An independent mechanic said he would charge me $200, but recommended the 1st service to always be done at the dealer.
I was told they did an oil and filter change, go over all valves, seals, re-torque everything, Etc etc....
Still, I will not go to the dealer for anything else. Most of that charge is labour. "Parts" are less than $100.
Live and learn, my friend.
