Plan to do 2 or 3 weekday track days to escape the office from time to time and hope to sign up for 3 to 4 Race weekends which are great, i mean really great, but would never replace a street bike with a dedicated track/race bike - if i had to choose.
You plan, pay, transport and hope for good weather for the track bike - and you wait your turn every 3rd session. - wait all sunny warm week for the weekend track day(s) only to end up riding in the cold or rain. i love the track, but I couldn't get by without the street bike too - transportation to work, free parking, 2 up when weather is fine, ride to buddy's cottage, etc., tough to trade that freedom for a dedicated 9 am to 5 pm track bike. If you think about it, its kind of a contradiction - thrilling to speed and race around a short road course but its restrictive and surprisingly conformist in a regulated and organized 9 am to 5pm kinda way... After adhering to the schedule all day, less any red flag sessions, at 5pm you load up and you don't ride again until next time you plan, pay, transport and setup at the track... Just my thoughts on a wintry January day.
