How is your workplace adapting?

My wife has been WFH since the second week of March. Went back into her office for the first time since then a few weeks back just to package up files and her personal belongings - they are gutting her entire floor for renos. So, she will be going back (to an entirely new office) eventually, but who knows when.

My work on the other hand...pfft.... After Labour Day they finally instituted masks everywhere inside as well as wellness check paperwork every day. 1 Guy came in one day with a sniffly nose a few weeks later, checked the box on the paper, and they forced him to take 14 (unpaid) days off and show a negative covid test. Needless to say nobody has any symptoms of anything now, ever. :cautious:

The mask thing is slowly fizzling away to basically zero adherence amongst employees while inside, and nobody seems to care.

Don't even get me started at the gong-show that is my customers. Maybe 10% of places are going off the wall with caution and following the rules, some going completely overkill. 50% are in what I'd consider a moderately acceptable adherence where I don't feel unsafe going inside, and the remaining 40% are in full YOLO with no masks, no distancing, absolutely squat all cares in the world.

You should have seen my old boss go off on the Shipping Supervisor when she realized we still had chairs out for the drivers in May.

This seems to be a uniquely blue collar phenomenon

Apparently you cant wear a mask if you have to walk around and have to use your arms and legs for your job

I had to hump a few hundred pounds up a few flights of stairs for a job in the summer. An N95 mask in that role sucks donkey balls. They are normally slightly annoying but under high effort, they collapse when you inhale. That level of exertion is a very small portion of a persons day though.

Oh, I just made my CTO my ***** (he's literally my advisor now as advised by the CEO) lol

******* loving it even more now. I know, in the long run, it is better to be a small fish in a pond big fish (aka. you should never be the smartest/fastest/strongest in any scenario unless you don't want to grow)....but for now, I'll enjoy this while I find a FAANG job where I'll get to feel like a newbie again.

COVID-19 has been a damn blessing.
