How do you deal with generally unpleasant people?

OP. you didn't help any body else by letting this nut bar loose. You make a point of getting the licence and you report him for threatening. Most likely he's done this before and will do it again. I had a tow truck driver endangering a whole line of cars by trying to keep the two left wheels up along the center median and dropping back down into traffic further ahead before he hit a light standard. People said "waste of time" to call the company. They took my information. Later that day the owner called me and said thanks, we've been trying to build a case to fire that driver and this was the nail in the coffin.

2/ Twerp driving like an *** hat for a mile along Steeles in Markham finally picked on me at Vic Park in rush hour and cut into me so fast and stood on his brakes so hard I just kissed his bumper. Truly unavoidable. He jumps out of the car, screams at me and I just stand there smiling at his insanity so he punches me in the chest. 54" chest - 260 lb. He literally bounced back, lol. His mom was in the car so I kept cool, don't need that kind of trouble anyway. He left and I think mom was reaming him a new one. Other drivers came out of their cars and thanked me for standing up to him because he'd been cutting them off before it was my turn.

Cops I think are under a policy now to follow up on any case of threatening very seriously. They will pay a visit at the least. Employed, seemingly otherwise normal people don't need that kind of attention in their lives.
 
Back in the 70's when I first strted riding this sort of thing was a common occurence. There weren't many bikes on the road and anyone that road a bike was thought to be a member of a gang. It was the sort of thing that happened every time you got on your bike. We used to carry marbles in our jacket pockets and let a handfull fall onto the road in front of the idiot. If a marble didn't smash their headlight, the sound of the impact would scare the **** out of them.
P.S. still works even though the cars are smaller!
 
I ride a motorcycle. It has blistering acceleration. I use it when passing. By the time someone I'm passing is considering cutting me off, I'm 200 metres in front. If they seem like a maniac I then keep my eye on them and accelerate away if necessary.

If confronted in the store I would not have reacted nicely. Not saying that's a good idea; I just know my temper.

YRP would be very interested in knowing about this guy. It seems he's known to a few folks here. Report the hell out of him and make him YRP's problem.

White sunglasses? That explains everything.

One can put ego aside without being APOLOGETIC towards someone who almost murdered him. :lol:

Maybe one isn't murdered BECAUSE they apologized. If the man is insane enough to try running people off the road and follow them around...you'd have to question their sanity. What if OP decided to escalate the situation by being brave heart...resulting in said pyscho to put a gun in his face. Vag or not you'd apologize for getting in their way just to survive.

One can seem apologetic just to quickly resolves an issue. I see no problem in that...

Keeping a civil record of such things and reporting them may at some point do some good as it shows patterns and intent.

Direct retaliation is a different story if you want to follow the Asian fisherman thread. One has to ask how things would have played out if handled differently.

Point proven, see what happened there? you had to confront me with your opinion to make it clear that I am wrong. I validated your opinion just to shush you up....knowing that your answer holds no value to me as I know that I'm not a "huge gaping vigina"...but whatever helps you sleep at night.


Sooo let me ask you this. If the driver were to have pulled out a hand gun, and requested your wallet and perhaps the keys to your bike....would you oblige or would you continue with "teaching them a lesson" as you fear being labelled a "huge gaping vagina"?

Thats about as realistic a response. That being said its not the first time I've had a knife or gun pulled on me.
Being constructive works great with kids, but when some one tries to kill you and then stalks you? Diff ball game in the real world there bud.

pinning him down and waiting 45 minutes for the cops to show up would probably result in you being in cuffs not him. knocking him out, also probably in cuffs. letting him wander off with a pat on the back? probably even stupider if the next rider he tries to kill is you or me.

is there a way to deal with this (not now I mean at the time, similar situations etc) and get the cops involved without resulting to violence? this guy should NOT be on the road, at the very least he needs to have a cop shake some sense into him. whats the correct course of action for that to happen? just plate + call? that seems too little. that doesn't seem like it would result in anything. he said she said.

for the record in situations like this do one of two things, call the police yourself, tell the cop he was making sudden arm movements and you were scared he was trying to swing, reach for something so you put him down. Or, knock him out throw on your helmet and walk out. He was following you, believe me unless you got a record the cops will be on your side and cart his *** off. Now that being said you're better off choking the dude out than knocking him out if you plan on sticking around.

If you can't defend yourself , just take a video of the guy with a cell phone, get the plate #, call the cops and tell them some one is following you and trying to kill you.
