I think we need everyone to stop calling them travel "lanes" on the highway and to start calling them by their proper name

No, because the HOT lane is currently the HOV lane. So if you don't pay or have at least 2 people in your car you still have the same number of lanes available to you then right now.

Yes, because the HOV lane should've returned to being a regular lane after the Pan-Am games. It's true that this lane is currently unavailable to single drivers but that's a technicality.

The HOV lanes in Toronto (Gardiner & DVP) went back to regular lanes after the Pan-Am games. The ones on the 404 & QEW were already HOV before the games.
