My name is Tony and I would like to take this opportunity to inform all members of this forum about petitioning the Ontario government to allow single riders in the HOV lanes on the 400 series Highways. The Ontario Government is planing to build over 450kms of HOV lanes on the 400 series highways in the next 25 years. For many reasons I have started a group on facebook and hope that you all join, learn, and sign this petition. So far there are 430 signatures. I'm hoping for 5000. Regards Tony Belbeck

WOW.. Thank you guys for the warm welcome. I was amazed that I got 30 signatures just this morning in support of the single riders for HOV lanes.. This shows me that we can unite and show the Ontario Government that we as individuals can make a difference to the environment. I will continue to fight for our rights as motorcyclists. regards

Great idea, but I don't facebook... any way I can add my name without having to hear from all the people I've been spending the last 20 years trying to forget?

I often wondered why motorcycles were identified as being OK for HOV lanes on roads such as Eglinton Ave. but not the highways. I already think the HOV lanes are a farce, now we have 3 lanes of the 404 backed up from York Mills to Stouffville every morning while a parade of Mercedez and Porches with 1 occupant blow by in the HOV lanes. It would be interesting to see if there is any record of the number of rear end collisions that occur on the highways and the times. (I was involved in 1 and witnessed several). The safety factor alone should be reason enough.
I was even considering just taking the HOV lanes in order to get the ticket and challenge it in court as I have a great track record on non-sense type tickets.(Your Honour, The officer and prosecutor cannot show me the law which states I must IMAGINE a straight line from ther hydrant to the roadside...)he-he.
I too am not on facebook but would like to know how to add my name to the petition.
