Hot weather commuting, minimal armor?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought an Icon Field Armor Stryker Vest to replace my textile mesh jacket for the summer since it's so friggin' hot! And I do commute from home to school day-by-day on my bike, I haven't had the opportunity to go riding yet with both on, but I did put my MEC Pika backpack on and it did feel funny.

Does anyone have any alternatives to this? I want something small and light enough to carry a textbook or two, and doesn't look funny when I walk around with a vest on.:D

Thanks in advance,

Doug

Does your textile jacket have armor?

Wear dark colours. It hides the sweat.
Dark colours keep/attract light more as well so its a win/lose situation

Dont darker colors make you hotter???

Yes Dark colors make you hotter. I'm looking for a small bag that won't feel awkward on my back with just the field vest.

You should feel proud with the vest on and your helmet in your hand: I'm cool... I'm a rider... lol!

Damm it... Could not find the douch vest thread. Did it get deleted?

Sweat stains >>> skin grafting

Or at least by my standards. Pack an extra tshirt and change in school.

Have you considered a tank bag? You can find ones big enough to fit just about anything.

I meant for whatever clothing he's wearing underneath his jacket :) If someone can sweat enough for it to show through a bike jacket.. that's diiiiirty.

When you're sitting on the DVP for 40 minutes in 38ºC weather, it gets pretty gross.

I'm looking at the Icon Primer right now online, but i'm not sure of the dimensions and if it's able to fit all my stuff. I want/need something compact yet is capable of storing things that are 8x11 in size

right! sitting in traffic is gross! dvp is so fun to ride but always busy! i prefer to take the streets to have SOME movement, some wind!

Eff that, just squid it. Helmet, boots, gloves.

...Probably need underwear, t-shirt and pants too lol

Usually on hot days I opt out on the jacket only, that's mainly where you get warm.

if its damn too hot out, i vest/squid it for short distances, but if any highway riding is involved, i use my jacket.

as for the tank bag, might i suggest the icon urban tank bag (it converts to a backpack!)
