Honda Recall Clearance letter

thanks guys, RIV didn't even ask for it. it looks like they were able to look it up on Hond's webpage.

RIV is aware that Honda refuses to give recall clearance letters. RIV just checks the OEM site which Honda does provide. All other manufacturers, you will likely need the letter. Good to call RIV first and inquire.

Yep, that's good to know that RIV are not playing the manufactures games.

If they did, they would pretty much ban Honda imports. So good that logic still prevails at times.
The entire process is poor though. Should be revamped.

I recently imported a Honda CBR 600 RR into Canada only to find Honda USA head office as well as dealers to be complete ******** about this recall clearance print out.

To add to the problem Honda USA has taken down the VIN search for registered users.

I am frustrated beyond belief.

RIV wont accept the fact that Honda USA website is now offline for registered user VIN SEARCHES!
RIV wont accept the fact that HONDA USA head office and dealers wont print it out... Canadian Head office and dealers same issues.

I stand to loose $6,000

Can anyone help me? I cant convince the RIV to give me an exception. I even tried giving them a taped phone conversation of me on with Honda USA stating "there are no recalls on that vin" and "we can not provide a print out showing this"

Losing my mind over this.

Be patient. Seasons over anyways. I'm sure you'll be able to get the print out soon enough

IIRC US dealerships have the ability to print off recall/service history work. May have to swing them a few bucks, but its worth asking

Kawi USA emailed me a PDF copy for free the last time I imported a bike. That was several years ago though.

Honda dealer/ shop across the border at Niagara was helpful to me. I got new tires from him and he helped me with the recall clearance. I asked nicely.

When I brought in my Goldwing in 2008 the seller got a letter from a dealer he had a good relationship with. RIV accepted a letter on a dealers letterhead if it had the Honda Logo. Never needed the letter but nice to have.
