Honda NT1100

I gave up on Honda improving the ST1300, purchased a 2019 Tracer December 2020 and then sold my 19 year old ST1100 in April to someone on the forum who is enjoying it (I hope).

The NT1100 is the type of bike I was waiting for Honda to release to the market and definitely I would have looked at it seriously, but it's a year late for me. The Tracer is not an ST1100 in terms of long distance rideability and weather protection, but it's a great bike nonetheless, in particular being 500 lbs vs 750 lbs the ST1100 was. The NT1100 will be successful I think as Honda builds on the 1100 engine as Yamaha has on the 900.

This is my dash:

GSXs looks better
I suppose

but twins>inline 4
this one also has way better ergos and comes with heated grips and everything standard, probably cheaper than the gsxs too

The CB1000R didn’t sell and the CBF1000 didn’t either. Both were good bikes (great bikes even). Customers have repeatedly shown that Honda’s soggy-toast “we’re targeting the over-30 crowd that wants a comfy ride and doesn’t need 150hp” doesn’t work on the sales floor.

Chain drive on a touring bike? FAIL!

Modern bikes with chains don't require a tremendous amount of attention. It's not a big enough deal to write off the bike as a fail.

Depending on the price it seems to have plenty of good points, and enough tech incorporated.

It will likely be a sales slug here though as (perhaps) most of the target market are more inclined towards the Euro options.

CBF1000 didn’t either
It was never in the US but did very well in Europe and UK even challenging BMW numbers in Germany.
Few farkles available in North America for Canadian riders and the damn tank was too small for touring so was not a progression from the ST1100. 5 stage adjustable windscreen is good on the NT1100 tho I don't think anything will rival the ST1100 touring screen. 20 litre tank is barely okay but a far cry from the 28 in ST.
Looks well set up for luggage.
I still loved the rush of the inline four tho.
Trying to see what's special on the this bike and not a lot comes to mind.

does not look all that comfortable for a pillion tho I like how the luggage is fitted.

It may not have the fire breathing power of the KTM or Ducati, but unless you're flying down the straight at portimao on a regular basis, who cares?

Im sure it will have plenty of usable power,
If it undercuts the competition,
comes well equipped, and ticks all the boxes, could be a good bike

Bonus points for 17" wheels and cruise control, for those of us who like to keep it real and not pretend to be offroad gods with 21" wheels
