Hit by train

Someone walked out infront of a train here in London a few weeks ago, as well.

I went to high school in that area and we were always warned about staying off the tracks under threat of detention. A couple times kids got caught walking or crossing the tracks by the cops and brought back to school. But I guess thats what made it appealing to stupid high school kids...I wasn't one of them, I did far stupider things yet never got caught by a teacher, cop or train.

when I was 17 I didn't do things that jeopardized my life.
How things have changed

It's funny..I read something one of the students said..basically.."There's a fence..but it's only .5m high..and you know..we'll just keep walking there..cause that's what we do.." Ummm..why not choose NOT to walk on the train tracks!! Hmmm...

Funny that somebody got hit in Feb. and ppl don't learn from that.
What does it take to know what is dangerous these days?

There was a kid killed out near Oshawa .. he didnt hear the train due to his Ipod blasting in his ears.

How f'ing loud is your ipod, you cant hear a train coming along with the horn blasting at you from a distance back.

I live ~300m from the GO train tracks and hear it every 5pm.
Hear the ground shake too

If he was using those ear bud noise cancelling headphones, it wouldn't have had to be on full blast. But regardless what happened to a lil common sense and situational awareness?? Your on or near train tracks.............keep a god damn eye out for the ******* trains!

Me and my 6yr old son love to watch these kinds of videos.

is it appropriate to give this teen a darwin award?

I think the GO is on a secret mission to weed out train-track walkers from the gene pool

My friend when he was 14 lost both his legs from being sucked under a train. He was crossing a bridge with his brother with walkmans on and they felt it coming and looked back and didn't have time to get across the bridge so his brother jumped (Broke a couple bones) and he tried to hold on to the side of the bridge and it ended up sucking him under.

This is sad but I heard the comments on the tv and got mad. Some people/students think that GO train should do more like put up fences and make it harder for people to walk on or near tracks. (mind you they jumped the fence to walk on the tracks)

But why do when need to take extra precautions for the stupid? I mean how dumb do you have to be to walk on railroad tracks during rush hour?

Its like when people said there should be a fence at Niagara falls........its a ledge and a huge drop, back the F up.

LOL> Even the fence doesnt stop people ..

Public doesnt realize how many people actually fall over the railings at Niagara, just so they can get a better picture.
Another outstanding spot is Bluffers park in Scarborough ..

If you headphones in your ears and music blasting, you won't hear a train. Train tracks are super dangerous spot. Like many people said, even standing beside train tracks, you really need to hold onto something or you have a good chance of getting sucked under the train. Plus switch machines/frogs - when those rails move, it's pretty much instantaneous, it will squash your foot like it's even there - those switch motors are made to crush stones to safely move the rails.

I read somewhere that the force a train has when hitting a vehicle is the equivalent of a car crushing a pop can. :o
