Hit and Run Can anyone enhance image ?

Edit: Doh...I see that you said it was a salting truck, can't help you there.

It's a Culligan water delivery truck...maybe?

The writting kinda looks like this:

Mystery solved. It was the Culligan Man, in the gas station, with the Chevy.

I wonder why every security picture or video is always such bad quality, its the same with condo cameras as you almost can never see the plates on those.
Whats the point of having cameras if they cant be used to identify the thief or murderer or whatever.
You would think the technology would be there to have clear pictures.

It is, it just costs more (cameras are more, storage is more, lenses are more). I am surprised places like banks don't have better cameras, but someone has probably done a cost/benefit analysis and determined that there is no point. Even if you catch the person that robbed you, recovering the money doesn't always happen. Now you have invested money for little gain (you still lost this time, but prevented future losses to this one particular individual).

I tried a couple of things and there just isn't enough data there, to get anything out of the picture.

Ok to answer frekeyguy this was downtown toronto. The plot does thicken... so they show up again at about 10:30 and salt the lot LOL ...
My employee told me this today and so I check the video ... looks like its the contractor that I HAVE CONTRACTED for snow removal ... just need to match both vehicles and thats it.. called the cops but no show from them as yet to take the video. How to I proceed with insurance?
Does insurance match the videos etc ... do the cops do it and call the contractor ? should I call the contractor ? this was reported to the cops within 24 hours but have not got an official report from them as yet ... the constable gave me his badge number and said he had reported it to the hit and run squad and I should have a report today. Still no report, so should I just call my insurance right now and explain all this or wait for the report ? First time this has happened to me so no experiance. Thanks to all that posted and tried to extract anything from the image (incuding the guy who actually enhanced it so I could view the driver).

I dont think so ... but I can pm anyone the video ... i dono it .bmp is better or jpg as those are the two formats my dvr system allows me to save the images in. Videos are saved in .avi or .mpg but thats it.

Call the company and find out who their insurer is and get their policy#. Then call your insurer with that info. They will call the other company and confirm details and will then be able to waive your deductible. It's still in your best interest to call the company that caused the damage directly because you will need to either prove that they caused the damage or have them accept liability for the damages.

But how can I call the company directly since they will simply deny it. I have video proof of them doing it. They are actually my snow removal contractors. They hit the car and drove off at 5:10 pm. Then they showed up at 11pm to salt the area. In the 5:10 pm video I can see the basic image of the car etc as shown in the pic. Then at 11 pm I see the car and the logo and them salting the area which is how I identified that it is them. Its clearly visible the car the logo the salting thing at the back etc... but I thought to proceed the cops have to make a confirm ID and then I call insurance. Should I just call my insurance claims dept and inform them since I havent even done that.

Just call your own insurance company with the info...

Call them and report it for sure. The problem is that they're going to ask for the insurance info for the salter truck. If you give you insurer the company name and tel# they'll likely call the company up but if they deny it you might have a problem. Do you have footage of the truck actually hitting your car?

Yes the footage of the truck hitting my car is there only problem is that the logo is not clearly visable ... but looks identical to the salter truck that comes to do my lot ... ( same lettering colours same number of lines same make model ... same salting thingy at the back etc etc ...

Well I'd expect some ******** back and forth but I had a claim just like this a year ago but it was a plow on the front of a truck that did the damage and I got the deductible waived. If you can get the police to look into it you definitely have something. I'd still suggest calling the company directly. Most companies won't risk losing an account because of a dumb *** driver who hit a clients car.

If they start giving you the run-around, just advise them that you are no longer needing their services as you dont deal with companies who cover up their employees mistakes
