Hit an animal with my bike for the first time today.

As much as i like them, they're pests...

I have no huge issue with killing a few small, common, animals. Was just feeling guilty about the thought of it flailing in the street if I had just busted its back legs or something.

When I started learning to ride there was this one street in Thornhill where this small white dog would wait for any motorcycle to ride by. He would aim to grab your leg. After many of my friends got chomped in the leg, I was warned about this hazard. On I went and forgot which street. I see the dog doing a 45 degree trajectory for my right leg. Moved leg, blipped throttle and in he went, head first into my rear wheel, fangs a blazing. We never saw that dog run at us again.

Rabbit is the least hypoallergenic of the common meats. We used to buy it at Galati Foods.

Rode to work this morning and was scanning the dark ditch line & seen a few eyes shinning back. Co workers ask if it was a cold ride. Ya a little but my biggest concern was animals, road kill & objects on the road & cagers. Whole different world riding rural dark. Not my fav. ;-)

Maybe he lived.

I hope he didn't just end up maimed. I should've gone back.

then what?? Would you have put him out his misery and cooked his *** or just watched die a painful death??

Maybe it wasn't a "he". It could've been a Momma bunny, with little baby bunnies waiting for her to come home.

man, reminds me in gr.12 when we dissected cats. Buddy cut his open down the belly and 5-6 little mummified kittens popped out, it as one of the nastiest things I had seen.

A house cat decided to run in front of my bike at the last minute; all I saw in the rear view was a ball of fur bouncing down the road. Funny thing is that the cat saw me as he/she looked right at me before deciding to run across. Felt bad for 5 mins. Now I'm more diligent.

Had a chipmunk dash in front of me a week or so back. The first time it happens it's a bit scary as you're not expecting it ... I actually veered a bit but will have to make a mental note to not let it spook me into a bad reaction on the bike.

I also killed an animal with my bike my first time about 3 weeks ago when I went to ride around the Forks of Credit area. I was taking a turn and a squirrel jumped right in front of me; I had absolutely no time to react safely. So in the 10 milliseconds that I had to react I decided the safest thing to do was to stay the course. The poor thing got run over :( The front wheel felt a bit like jelly for a split second. :'(

Then half an hour later another squirrel jumped right in front of me, but this time I was going in a straight line and I managed to miss it by literally a foot. I still feel bad about the first one, wish I didn't run it over.
