Hit an animal with my bike for the first time today.

Going down St Clair at about 6:45am (still dark). Got in right lane to boot it past a pickup when light turned green. Light turns green and I go past him, pop into second and move into the left lane. Right after I get in the left lane I see something up ahead. Cute little bunny. Had a bit of object fixation but probably would've just barely missed him but he ran the same direction I went. Barely felt it through the bars.

I didn't go back to check on the damage to him. I should have. Appears to be no damage and no mess on the bike.

Feel kind of bad.

Sad story...poor bunny....at least you kept it upright.

Maybe he lived.

I hope he didn't just end up maimed. I should've gone back.

Maybe it wasn't a "he". It could've been a Momma bunny, with little baby bunnies waiting for her to come home.

Just to keep this motorcycle related, ...what type of oil do you use in yer bike?

Yes you should have, I have a great recipe for stuffed rabbit with rice, herbs and butter......mmmmm I'm getting hungry.

Lol I hate you.

I was using Amsoil because it was easy to get at Canadian Tire but I'll likely be switching now that they no longer carry it. I've got a couple bottles of Redline at home now but that stuff costs like 4x as much as Amsoil. Got some Motul stocked up as well but that's also about double the Amsoil. Been thinking of switching to the Bombardier stuff because they claim it's specifically for Rotax engines and is a group 5 (ester based) synthetic that costs about the same as Amsoil (which I think is only a group 3 sybthetic) but it's a snowmobile oil and has no ratings on the bottle so it might not be great for a bike. For the transmission I've currently just got the Rotella T6 in it but I've got some Motul Gear 300 75W90 set aside to go in next season.

Poor bunny...

I've found some Partsource stores still carry Amsoil.
I think Royal Distributing also still carries it too and at a good price.
I tried Amsoil 75W90 severe gear oil for the first time this year, shifting feel smoother, and neutral is easier to find :p.

That would be nice. I've got some issues going into first sometimes, neutral can be an issue, and occasional false neutrals up between 3-4 & 4-5. Wonder if Parts Source is still carrying it or if it's just old stock. Supposedly Canadian Tire didn't like that Amsoil raised their Canadian prices due to our crappy dollar so they stopped selling it.

Speaking of our crappy dollar, I just got back from the Smokey Mountains and looking over my credit card statement, the exchange rate wasn't as kind as I thought it would be.

What makes you think it was a male or female? What if the bunny identified as a coconut? I believe the proper pronoun here is Ze or Xe. You are triggering the rabbit and you need to check your privilege before you make such statements.

I came oftly close to hitting a dog over the long weekend -- Was on a group ride, and it chased a few of the bikes ahead of me....it quickly gave up and headed straight for me. I dodged into the other lane (oncoming) as there was nothing coming, and the dog did the same as well. Only missed it because in the last second I guess it decided running directly at a motorcycle wasn't the best thing for its life expectancy, and it veered away about 2 feet from my front wheel.

Really hope that dog's owner decides to chain him/her up in future, otherwise it is just going to be a matter of time.

2 of my buddies have had birds explode in their front wheel/fender area.
I had a bird bounce off my front headlight a couple months ago I looked back and he bounced into trees on the side of the road not sure if he lived or not I couldn't tell if he flew into the trees.

Also saw a squirrel cross right infront of a guy up ahead of me, that was scary for me, I was so surprised the rider just kept it pinned and didn't freak out and turn into the road shoulder.

I hit a deer once and regularly have dogs sniffing around my dog bones. Life goes on.

Bounced a bird off my helmet at 120 km/h. Likely ended badly for the bird.
Also ran over a squirrel once - didn't feel much through the suspension etc, looked back and the only thing vertical was a bushy squirrel tail sticking straight up in the air.... rest of the squirrel - flat like pancake... couldn't help but giggle.

Where was this? Only asking due to a run-in with dog on Monday that didn't end well for me or my bike. Thanks
