I think he is refering to the fact that it isn't a sale at all because even with the $1.01 off it is still bogus.
 
That, or because $2 is robbery, not a good deal, or because $1 off a chocolate bar should be a steal, or because someone printed the sign and someone posted it and nobody stopped for a second to look at what they were doing, or because each and every box is still right full.
Or maybe it's not funny and I just have a strange sense of humour.
