Highsided

Care to explain your blind curve front brake technique? :notworthy:

Yeah, you calmly squeeze it as hard as you can, up to the point where the front wheel is going to lock. It's called trail braking.

What is your technique??? Ease off the brakes and cruise straight into whatever stationary object you are target fixating upon?

Yeah it's called both brakes hard the minute you know you have an unexpected issue assuming pavement is the game.
Don't outride your lights and in slow out fast on corners. He had it all *** backwards and got in trouble for it - luckily with little consequence of note.
He's up front enough to acknowledge where it went south.
He stated quite clearly

do pay attention to the topic.

I was paying attention. I'm sure that he realizes that its better to go in a little slow from now on and accelerate as necessary.
That way he won't have to make friends with the front brake in a blind corner when he is too hot. That's just a different type of getoff waiting to happen.

Glad you made it through Rohan.
I've always had good luck with rearsets and that stuff on ebay. replaced a few on my bikes, either to upgrade, or to replace a broken one due to my own noobness. Aftermarket ones are always less expensive that NEW oem. I bought a set of Gillies fully adjustable rearsets for a previous bike and still had cash left over to buy some extra goodies.

Thanks, I messaged the guy on eBay and I'm waiting for a reply.

I found a youtube video where a guys rearset broke in the EXACT same way mine did. Same side, same break location, etc.

So after a few days of the bike sitting in the garage on stands I checked on it today and noticed that one of the forks is leaking oil (right fork). Does it mean that the seal is simply broken or the fork might be bent?

That's threshold braking and not very easy to do in the dark, with an unexpected turn. I thought trail-braking was meant to compress the front suspension slightly, stabilizing the bike before and through the turn, resulting in higher corner speeds? A turn you can see ahead of time.

Nighttime riding is not a great idea under the best of circumstances. Yeah, I DO IT ALL THE TIME AND I HAVEN'T CRASHED, but that ignores the obvious. Riding is a predictive activity--the less visual information and forewarning means you must compensate with slower speeds. Humans are not naturally nocturnal animals, so alertness is reduced after dark too.

Damn, it's hard to sound friendly in the internet. After re-reading this post I imagined some bewigged fop pointing a cane at Sweet Onion.

I'm not very mechanically inclined, but seeing as how you highsided it's more than likely a bent fork... but again, common sense just led me to that conclusion. As I have suggested before, have the bike looked over by a professional to see what other damage occurred.

Good Luck!
