You need to consider the owners intentions of having the bike. If they have higher mileage it is likely they intended to keep it for a longer period of time and I would hope they completed proper maintenance. What worries me about low mileage (i.e. less than 5k km) is that the previous owner bought it as a learning bike and abused it. Never maintained it because they knew they would just sell it a few months down the road. Also, the low km bikes might be passed around a lot. If course this isn't always the case, but something to consider.
