so im having an issue with my bike that i haven't dealt with before. as im on the highway going about 130km steady , and as i try to crank the throttle all the way as i do so, the bike has like a hiccup before it catches speed. any idea what this can possibly be? air filter ? jets ? idk
 
It would be helpful to say what bike and year. Any recent maintenance or modifications?

If you have to ask us if your air filter is dirty :/ I'm afraid nobody here can help you very much.
As per your owner manual, if it's paper throw it in the garbage and replace it, they are consumable disposable parts.
If it is oiled foam or felt you should be regularly cleaning and re-oiling it. If your bike has fuel injection you don't even have jets, jets would make it a carburetor equipped motor.

157 horsepower v/twin engine, it should respond extremely well to throttle control or you have a service problem.
It came with a paper air filter, if that is original it would be an excellent place to start, you might even find a mouse nest in there.

... you also have a couple of oxygen sensors on your exhaust system that need to be replace on occasion. That could do it too.

I’ll look into it but no service light is on either
 
Service light Might come on if a sensor is going bad, not if the air filter is dirty.

Dirt and or water in your fuel filter can starve it for fuel, that could also cause a stumble on acceleration and no service light.

Start with the easy to replace disposable items first, it is never money well spent to hire somebody at a hundred bucks an hour to inspect a disposable consumable item like paper filters.
 
what power mode are you in?

maybe something about that speed/gear/RPM
the fuel map doesn't respond well at that spot

try a different power mode and see what happens under same conditions

:unsure: have you ever seen a user selectable power mode that induces acceleration stumble?
 
I've seen different torque curves based on the selected map

if he's cruising in race mode and rolls on the throttle without a downshift
yeah, a stumble wouldn't overly surprise me

look up 959 fueling issues, tons to read

and I bet 90% of them messed with their exhaust systems.

I only have 130 horses to hold back and deft throttle acceleration from 130kph in any gear never misses a beat, timex watch like, never misses a beat! The difference in gear selection makes the difference of how fast the front wheel takes flight.
His bike is only 4 years old, old enough to need some service, not new enough to be revealing new fuel map programme issues unless his riding skills are diminishing with age. I'm guessing he has a regular maintenance service issue

go over to the 959 Panigale forum
you can read for days about fueling issues in race mode

my suggestion of switching modes is a TS step
if that makes the stumble go away it can eliminate some things

OP, how many km on the bike?

you're turning into the my ideas ideas are the only good ones guy again trials
 
I try not to direct people in a completely wrong direction, been wrenching my own motorcycles continuously since 1966, seen a couple of things. Of my 7 fuel injected bikes I've had to deal with since 1986, my guesses might be a little better then the average bear.

Hope somebody shows up to go riding soon :|
 
Clutch? Video of problem? Recently developed or happening for a long time? Issue changes with gear selected? Speed of whacking open the throttle matters?

I'd second that. What gear are you in when doing "130km steady"? I'm not familiar with the 959, but perhaps you're just out of the power band. If you're crusing 130km/h @5k or below, might explain the sluggishness you're experiencing.

If all else fails, maybe you're just feeling underwhelmed by the v2 and ready for a v4? I don't know..
As Michael Neeves says [of the 959]: "it's like a big Moto3 bike", "one of the best middle-weights you can buy" but "hasn't got the brutality of a 1000". Have you ever taken it to the track? Sounds like it would be helluva lot of fun.

It’s really weird so even if I’m just going 110 steady after a few seconds it seems sluggish unless I give her some gas. It seems to happen every time I’m on a steady speed and decide to crank it after a few seconds
