help please..I need insurance

State Farm should be around $1800-$2000/year for you with your M1 (If you have a decent record and have had your G license for 5 years.
It would also go down 40 percent; if you brought your car insurance to them as well.

Do you have tickets, claims or accidents on your record?
How long have you had your G license?
Where do you live?

Its very hard to help when your posts are so vague.

Even with a zx7 you sure? They told me no. My record is clean, no points no missed payments etc etc. They declined me because I'm a new rider as far as they are concerned, and considering the bike I was trying to insure. I've been on bikes since I was a kid. I got my G when I was 16. My auto does'nt cover bikes unfortunately. Its expensive but on the other side of the coin I consider myself lucky to find one at all cause it was looking pretty grim.

Were going to see about putting everything under one name when the other policy ends. My bikes will end soon after so I won't get hosed on too much remainder.

Maybe the gov should step in and mandate. I got some conflicting stories from one to the next. Such as it does'nt mater if you step up and complete your exit tests or completed riding school its based more on how long you have held your license. But then they can turn around and make up a new rule saying if your off of a policy for such and such amount of time your considered a new rider blah blah

State Farm is the only company that will give a decent rate on sportbikes with your M1.
For a 600cc in Kitchener w/o a car with them is $115/month, a 750 is $140/month + minus 40 percent if you bring your car there as well, as long as you are over 25 and have had your G for 5 years.
I would definitely call another SF as the person you were talking to seems misinformed.

I don't blame the insurance companies for being reluctant to insure a new rider with only an M1. Riding a motorcycle is not the same as jumping in a car. You are asking them to insure you with for all they know 0 experience and the likelihood of you crashing is very high. Of course they are going to jack the rate up. When a rider gets an M2 with a course they have a little more trust that you now have some basic skills and your risk goes down slightly.

Although you say you have been on a bike since a kid they have no proof of that or your experience so it falls on the lowest common denominator and you are classed with riders with no experience.

As a riding instructor I have seen many riders come through saying yeah been riding dirt bikes all my life etc but never been on the road and that is a whole other ball game. Just because you have done something all your life also does not mean you are doing it right.

15yrs + the bike is considered vintage or something of that sort, not considered a super sport anymore therefore it drops price.
although, as far as i know its still for 1996 and older. and has not changed for a couple years. I had a zx7 and sold it as insurance was way to much for me.

Did you try JeVCO - i believe they've been bought by intact now though.

Good Luck

I'm not exactly new to streets but I know where your coming from.

I was told by a broker that obtaining my m2 along with graduating from a certified course wont change the course of my money into they're wallet. That just don't seem right.

Got some, for way less than I was quoted. I can totally live with 2G year one.

Had my bike out all eve...amazing.

Thanks for all the insight, I appreciate it.

I ride a 98 ZX7-R, M1... state farm all the way. They only want to know the year and cc's. I pay $80.00 a month it's better the more you have with them. House, other cars etc.

Welcome to the Kawi family !
