HELP! motorcycle licence expiry

while pushing the bike in a figure eight isn't something you may have to do normally, pushing your bike out of the way @ a gas station, manoeuvring it in your garage/parking spot, or even at timmies is something you do have to do, being able to push it in a figure eight shows that you can push the bike in all circumstances.

the slow speed slalom are skills you would use most rides, parking the bike, manoeuvring parking lots. if they're done the m testing for the year they probably are done the m2 testing too. RTI has a couple spots open this weekend at Bowmanville/Mosport for the m1x (m2) course. they let you use a smaller bike (provided) and it's easier to push around a parking lot.

They have a pylon test at the exit test? I thought it was just a road riding observation.

On a nother note it could have been worse. I have observed (to my massive amusement) people at the MTO who borrowed friends bikes for the initial test and crashed them in the pylons. Or the guys who bought ultra expensive hogs as their first bike and also crashed them at the test.

Seeing the pained expressions on their faces after a bonehead move is priceless.

Good luck with the license hunt.

Perhaps this thread did not go "poor child" to your satisfaction?

Or are you the epitome of the poster child for exactly what " the m/c community has come to"????

You Ninja riders are so mean to GSXR riders.

First of all, you could have just said 'I don't think we need to judge someone..' Don't hurt yourself.

Second, internet forums aren't here to be nice to you. People are *****. Some people aren't. And it sucks for the OP but procrastination is a b*tch.

Lol.. don't hurt yourself ,what is wrong with you? seriously The same way that all or some of us are willing to help a biker on the road in trouble, we could do the same in this forum.

Only other thing I can add to this is to make sure its your M2 that is expiring, and not your G. It seems they both have their own expiration dates, and I'd assume its the first to expire that is listed on your license. I thought I was going to be in the same boat as you this summer but it was only my G that had expired and not my M2. Couple hours in the MTO and it was updated and fixed.

Also it doesn't really sound to me like the OP procrastinated all that much. He had crap happen with his bike, and I'm not sure how well you could forsee and prevent that from happening. I'm also a little surprised they nailed him for 10 over. I've always had my testers making sure I could go with the flow of traffic, aka 10 over.

I think instead of adding insult to injury replies could've been limited to:

Sorry, you ****** up, and our system doesn't have leeway for people who don't make it in the 5 year date. I believe you'll be starting from scratch. Your insurance company will give you a rate based on whatever the ministry says is your license class. You can show up to a motorcycle drive test centre first thing Tuesday morning and plead your case but you're likely out of luck.

It may be worthwhile asking if you can get a 3 day extention and calling Humber college. They do mid week motorcycle courses and if you let them know this is an extreme circumstance they might be able to squeeze you in? Longshots are worth shooting for.

You ****** up, but good luck. Fight for it and you may still win.

PS I believe a government policy is that anything expiring during holiday/weekend is extended until the next working day. I know people who have scheduled court dates and brought in safety certifications after the timelines because their paperwork expired on the weekend.

Sarafatoxin, if there's really no other option, I'm gonna give you real advice: use being female to your advantage when you go to the ministry. In a lot of cases, exceptions can be made - find a guy that looks like a sucker. Lol...hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Flirt with him a little and he can probably "see what he can do" (btw, I'm not saying go sleep with the guy. Just chat him up and look really sad. And cry if you gotta. I swear to god that works more than half of the time. I know too many girls that get away with crap 'cause they cry; and they do it on purpose, too.)

For your sake, I hope you're a cutie ;)

wow, bunch of posts/comments disappeared --- thanks mods!

thanks everyone for the advice --- I actually went to the ministry in Etobicoke last Sat. morning and tried to extend the deadline (knowledge -- don't typically play that card and I don't think I could get myself to cry in front of an MTO officer lol), but they couldn't do anything for me. I'm busy this week every day 8-8, so it's hard to find the time.

Adri -- I looked into these courses a while ago and as far as I can tell, they require the students to bring their own bike. I've still been having issues with my bike (it was functioning OK for about a week and then started dying again -- I realized the rectifier was bad and ruining all the batteries). I priced it out with a rental and it would cost approx. $700, but I suppose it is an option if I'm willing to pay the price --- anyone willing to lend me a bike? :)

Lol...a certificate you paid for.... on the track.....not the street, totally different and the street is where you're way more likely to have to swerve too to avoid potholes, pedestrians, junk, old tires etc. I think the slalom is a very worthwhile manoever to have to perform to pass a street test.

Let me start by by saying this Driving/Riding is a privilege not a right. I think most people forget that and whenever they have an issue with insurance the ministry or police.

As for your situation been there done that it's my own fault do to laziness. My only suggestion is now go do your M1 test with a good friend so you can stay on top of each other to follow through with the rest of the licensing. Go in the day you are allowed to and complete each test. If your bike is working and your eligible you can go in and sit there on your day off as a walk in.

Yes, there's 2 people that rent bikes for the test on Kijiji...one rents out 1/3 125CBRs, and the other guy has 2 bikes for rental. A smaller and a bigger bike (can't remember actual bikes). If you need the contact PM me and I have it around here somewhere. She can probably get you a quick turnaround as demand during the week is probably light. A lot of her weekends were all booked during the summer.
