HELP - CBR F4 Regulator/Rectifier Issue

honda's known for crappy r/r

i had the same problem with my vfr, I put on an aftermarket one from rmstator (www.rmstator.com). it is like 1/3-1/4 cheaper than OEM and better designed. it's a straight out replacement too so no messing around with the wiring.

also from what i've read, lowering your wattage consumption can cause issues with the r/r from honda. it's designed to "throw the excess electricity away". lowering your consumption by replacing bulbs with leds etc makes it have to work harder.

ok so here are my findings:

battery DC voltage: at rest 12.5V, turned on = 12.2 to 12.9V, 5K RPM = 14V

Stator AC voltage: consistent at 11.5V between all phases ; however the voltage dropped to 7-9.7V when RMP increased to 5K (inconsistent)

connectivity test on r/r (diode function): I know I'm supposed to get a no connectivity when I attach my meter's negative to negative battery connection and the beep (connectivity) when I switch but I got no connectivity at all when in either case.

What's the verdict: bad stator AND r/r ?
As I said before I have HID headlights and LED blinkers; should I change all to stock to prevent this from happening again ?
I'm ordering the "FH020AA with Maxifuse" from http://www.roadstercycle.com/ so hopefully that'll be the last time I change the r/r.

Thanks again for y'all help ... helps ? ... I can't talk cool :(

This guy's video may help...turned out to be two problems, one was with the carbs.

Also check your continuity on your stator.
