helmet, jacket, dirt and sweat > cleaning/maintenance

Recently bought a used boot which was in good condition. The inside had some stains and at the time I didn't think it would take much to get rid of. However, I tried cleaning with water and hand soap and that didn't quite work. Wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to get rid of it without damaging the leather.
Thanks!
It is the inside of a boot, I wouldn't bother trying to do anything.

Are you sure it's real leather? My top of the line (at the time) Sidi Vortice's aren't actually leather, but a synthetic material that looks like it. If not real leather, it may give you additional cleaning options. Don't forget to remove the insoles.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was real leather... These are Sidi Vertebra, so I'm guessing it might not be.
