Just surfing across the web from the other side of the pond, and browsing through all the interesting posts.
Rather wet winter here just now, so not much fun biking at the moment.

i'm looking forward to doing a new promoted tourist route over here, their calling it the North Coast 500. 500 miles round the north coast of Scotland, taking in our most remote roads, and beautiful scenery.
i'm a keen motorsports fan, and love spectating at our big road race events, North West 200, and the Ulster Grand Prix, both of which take place in Ireland, and of course the Isle of Man TT.

Welcome Ricalnic! Lot's of Canadian's have some Scottish heritage, so I feel like we're family! My mothers family are Grants :)

Would love to visit there someday - it looks incredibly beautiful!

Beautiful country - my wife and I had a leisurely tour around Scotland - unforgettable.

Greetings! Land of my ancestors.
But there's really not much actual biking in Canada between maybe November and April. :(
Though back in the day, I'd always be out in March heheh.
Lately that has become December to March for everyone though... so there might be something to this Global Warming thing?
But zero actual riding (none).

Ten or fifteen below Celsius, or centigrade as they say over in old blighty, is not workable - far too cold.
Plus it's just not safe, the tiniest bit of moisture freezes hard and the tarmac itself it frozen solid.
Well below zero, frozen stiff. Brits don't capish.
Britain is just bizarre! WAY farther north than us, it must stay light until almost midnight in summer...
But the climate is mild and wet. We're jealous!

Seriously. Scotland is, forget James Bay, right up in Hudson's Bay latitude. That's north of The Pas where my buddy lives!
I mean, those guys ride too and have boats and things - but only May through maybe October.
The rest of the time is frozen stiff like a popsicle, WAY below zero.
Anyway, pardon my fascination for geographical oddities, heheh...

I like the Riding Tour thing very much. I myself would personally love to take your ride!
I want to do the same thing here in southern Ontario. Get an old run-down "Shady Rest" motel someplace and make it HQ.
Need to build a garage.

Setup a little 'nightclub' for the tourists and locals. Friendly to local musicians?
Get live music. Marshall amps, Pearl drums. Triumph bikes? Iconic names!
But I digress...

My family is from Scotland, but I've never been. My dad went back in 1990 as he had a place near St. Andrews golf course. He's buried nearby. We're heading over there next year and doing the full tour. I'm looking forward to visiting my ancestral home.
The family name is Willis.
