Helibars - drastic change in cornering ability?

Getting a little older, and thinking of changing the aggressive stance on my Hayabusa to something a little more neutral. So im looking to add a Helibar to raise bars to a more comfortable level. Just wondering if anyone has done this mod with Helibars, Genmar, Woodcraft etc. and how it affects your cornering either positive or negative at a spirited pace.

@Brian P can probably walk through it from a theoretical perspective (less weight on front wheel, body leaning in different arc than before, etc). People seem to be able to haul ass on a duke or Tuono so I suspect it may feel different but doesn't drastically reduce the capability. I expect the biggest difference at ridiculous speeds where the air against your chest starts to become a big issue. Solvable by tucking but a more awkward and slightly less aerodynamic position than with lower bars.

I'm pretty sure that's a common mod in the Hayabusa community. Lots of people sport-tour with them. It's probably best to ask among that community to see what people thought of it.

I had some on my zx10r for a time, and I went back to stock. Nothing like raising the center of gravity and moving it aft on a bike that already doesn't have enough weight on its front end!

That's probably less of an issue with a busa, the bike being longer and heavier (so the center of gravity of the combined bike and rider will be lower).

Plenty of people can ride plenty quick on a Tuono, or a BMW S1000R.

I had bar risers on my street Tuono and have motocross bars on my track Tuono. Aside from putting your body into more wind it handles just fine.

did you have to adjust suspension settings (preload/rebound/compression) due to weight distribution change or it felt the same after?

I got the track bike with clipons on it but swapped them out for the mx bars before ever riding it. I don’t think I’ve ever adjusted the suspension on it, just jumped on it and started doing laps.
As long as it feels good and the tire wear looks, I don’t tend to change things.

Yea I've read its pretty popular - however most of the information gathered is about comfortability only and not much on the cornering aspect. Im obviously not going to be tracking it, but as long as it's still comfortable enough to lean it right over then I'll be happy with the mod. Thanks for the information, I'll order it and wrench it on. Gotta say, the whole getting old thing sucks lol.

Beautiful bike! Looks so strange with the high clip ons lol. Good to know it still handles quiet well though, I look forward to adding the Helibar for some of these longer rides this summer.
