Heated Gear

I have a Gears genx3 full sleeve heated jacket in medium with heated glove liners in xl. Plus I have the dual temperature controller for both and the battery harness.
I purchased all of it together used on kijiji a couple years ago and it works great. I don't use it much as my kids are young and so far I never get beyond day rides.
You are welcome to borrow the whole setup for your trip and decide later if you want to invest in your own.
I'm in Barrie.

Thanks, really appreciate the offer and gesture, great community and people around here! I just ordered the Venture Heat jacket on sale from Blackfoot in Calgary and had it shipped to my sister there, so tax was way less + free shipping. Looking at long range forecasts, all day temps are 20c+ for the next month here and out west, only evenings drop to 14c or below, hoping just a good heated jacket and merino base layer pants are enough, as its easy to take a jacket off if it gets too warm.

That warm n safe deal is good, however I don't have time to go that way to pick it up, the pants won't fit right, my bike doesn't have the juice to power all of it, and it's a lot of gear to carry on my very limited luggage capacity. The Venture stuff seems to have good reviews as-well, and down the line I'll get the glove liners

I'm looking at heated grips, I'll get a pair in September/October, or maybe before the trip next week, I just hear conflicting reports on them, like warming the palm vs the whole hand. I do have hand guards on the bike

I've never tried heated gloves. All my bikes have had heated grips. I ride down to about 2°C or so. Hands are always warm, never a problem with the backs of the hands. Riding with non vented gauntlets, not a specific winter type glove. At the very coldest temps, sometimes the tips of my thumbs become cold, though all other areas of the hands are warm.

I'll get a set in the fall, hoping to ride into some colder temps this year without becoming a Popsicle at just 10c. Actually,I do have a set of heated grips I bought of eBay last year for the CB500X sitting around, just the grips are too small length wise for the T7. they still fit, just would need to get spacers to make them longer.

If anyone here wants a set of free heated grips, you can have em :)

The ideal setup, assuming your bike has the capacity to power it, would be heated grips, gloves, jacket, socks and dual controller. I had pants, but rarely wore them and sold them off to someone in Colorado. The heated grips are good for those marginal cold days where you don't want to suit up just to power the gloves.

I bought a battery operated jacket today.
Asphalt Surfer is the brand (I know zero about).
1 battery. Simple to use 3 way built in troller switch on the chest Sturgess has 1 XXL left. $129 on sale.

I know this from skiing. Your primary goal is to heat the extremities since they cool off the first. When I heat my hands and feet I'm good, the rest stays comfortable too. Never understood the butt warmers since that is the hottest part of my body.

I find that base layers and windproofing are all you really need. Underarmor Base 2.0-4.0, a fleece zip up, wind proof riding gear(not winter gear but rain gear). Gloves I splurged on, Rev'it Kodiak's. Rev'it makes some interesting winter gloves cause they have one line that have thinner palm insulation designed for heated grips (Rev'it Fusion 2 GTX) and another line thats for non-heated (my Kodiaks or the Revit Stratos GTX).

Rode in so far as -5 + wind chill and the only thing preventing colder days were the tires doing hockey puck impressions.

I ended up buying Yamaha oem heated grips this weekend in Calgary, installed and wow... Huge difference, no need to stop and change gloves just cause temp drops a bit, early morning hands are toasty, and riding with summer gloves in 15-18c feels good!

I did get a heated jacket too, and also feels amazing, no heavy layers and the Temps in the mountains change so much, from single digits at night to highs in the day I just tap a button and stay comfortable, no stopping to bulk up layers and then find a place to stuff them
