My dad has a new truck, a fancy GMC with no aux input and no CD player. He is not very tech savvy and does not have a great data plan for a lot of streaming to use his phone. He has a Sirius XM player in the house and he would connect that in his old car with a headphone/aux in jack. The new truck has every bell and while but no aux in, it does have USB. Is there a 3/4 jack to USB that would pass through audio from his Sirius XM player to use in the truck? I had a headphone to USB dongle that was for a computer headset but that did not work.

it will index the phone audio contents
and make it playable using the radio controls
should not be any need to add a separate device

can your Dad transfer his Sirius account to the new truck?

there is no way to take an analog stereo signal to make playable through a USB port
there are however Bluetooth transmitter devices that can make the connection
 
SiriusXM radios have built in FM transmitters. Find an FM station that is empty and he can easily have the Sirius radio come through on that station. Google it for very very easy instructions (if he doesn't have the manual handy. If I remember correctly the first option when you hit the Menu button is FM Transmit)
 
Sure it's not just a usb charger ?
 
Rethinking this.. If he is a big SiriusXM user (as I am) he can get himself a little laptop speaker powered by USB. Plug the audio from the radio into the speaker, plug the speaker into the USB for power. I assume he already has the radio powered from someplace else. Its not the best solution but where I work we have trucks that have all sorts of stereo systems (or none at all) and this setup allows me to listen to Sirius anywhere, and in any vehicle, as long as I have a working power/lighter outlet.

Look in the console my USB , sd card and aux in are in there

The truck has at least 1 and possibly 2 aux in jacks you just haven't found them

One USB port on the front instrument panel (IP) is standard on Work, Custom and Custom Trail Boss. Two USB ports and an auxiliary input on the front IP is standard on the LT, RST, LT Trail Boss and High Country, available in the LTZ convenience package. An additional 2 USB ports, SD card reader and the auxiliary input are inside the center console between bucket seats for High Country, available in the RST or LT Trail Boss Convenience Package II or LTZ Convenience Package. LTZs with bench seats include the 2 USB ports and SD card reader on the IP, available in the LT Convenience Package II.

Like @Trials alluded to, did anyone read the manual? There may be one specific to 'entertainment system'.
 
Too much fiddling about with cables and plugs with AUX IN. Bluetooth hands free transmitter plugged into 12v power socket. Magnetic wireless charger on dash plugged into 2.5A USB socket on transmitter. Set auto-play and auto pair functions on transmitter app to on. Get in, put phone near charger and the magnet grabs it and centers it on the base. Start truck, phone pairs automatically, and music starts playing. Music app on phone set to shuffle, so it spins the wheel. Might be Rossini. Might be Dayglo Abortions.

Why not just use the built in blue tooth link then it pauses when you shut off truck and restarts net time you start the truck.

Does the truck have it? OP was pretty vague about the accessories. I was referring to using an AUX IN only
