Off to Hawaii tomorrow for my honeymoon. Just reserved a Ducati Monster for Wednesday of next week. Looking forward to ripping around Oahu for the day! :D

It takes an hour or so to circle around the Island.. have fun doing laps ; p

I've been there before. Probably done about 7 laps of the island. Closer to an hour and a half to 2 hours to get around depending on the the traffic.

I'd still rather ride the drive a car though, and the scenery is hella better then Ontario ;)

honeymoon you say, sorry to hear that. Enjoy the bike and the island though:lmao:

Take the highway up to the north shore and go through the mountains. I regret not renting a motorcycle when I was there.

Pictures please.Sounds awesome.

Lol!! I'm lying in a hotel bed in Maui as I'm reading this! Didn't know they have Ducs monsters for rent!!? They have the best twisties, plus the ocean sceneries, it's just a riding/driving paradise. Wish I have a bike with me!

Every island in Hawaii is a dream to drive/ride and experience on foot ... hopefully the OP is not spending his whole time in Oahu. Was there for my honeymoon (Oahu and Kauai) and we went back 4 years later (Oahu, Big Island, Maui). Still remember the sight of a big local Hawaiian in flip-flops on a hog. If you ever want to do Hawaii, do it while you're still very able and healthy. I hope to be able to go back once more some day.

Do it! we had the time of our life riding in Hawaii

Back.. i was only in Oahu. But I've been before and spent time on Maui and The Big Island in addition to Oahu.

When i got there i rented one of those big 300cc scooters for us to get around. It was a SYM RV 300. It was fun to ride and so damn comfortable. Way better than I expected. I ended up keeping it for 4 days and not taking the Monster. My wife didn't want me to spend the cash and be off riding without her while we're on our honeymoon. Still an awesome time and can't wait to go back again.

Oof, sorry I missed your original post. I could have suggest some much better things to do on a honeymoon than to rent a bike and do laps.

Clearly i didn't spend my honeymoon doing laps of a little island. This being the general motorcycle discussion forum of a motorcycle messageboard, i didn't think that rest of my vacation was very relevent.

;)

Its a killer ride! i 2UP'D it back in 2009 with my wife and it was the best way to see the island.. we did it on the same trip on Kaua'i which was much more twisty actually ;)

Sorry to bring up a two year old thread but, Where did you rent from ? Planning a trip to Oahu in August and have been lookin at places that rent sport bikes.
My problem is most of the ones I found have either been SS or Harley rentals.. Me being vertically challenged .. A monster 696 would probably be ideal.

Honestly, don't bother renting a motorcycle there.
I was in Hawaii in February and with the amount of traffic in Oahu, it would have been a waste of money. It'd be like renting a motorcycle to drive around downtown Toronto.

The traffic on Maui is a little more relaxed and much less busy if you can get to that island....
