Have you imported a US 2008+ Ducati

GP bikes got me recall letter for triumph no questions asked and no charge. Nice of them...

Yes GP deserves a big round of applause for being a great help to the community, Pennisula wanted $500 while GP emailed it to me within minutes of getting off the phone.

$500 to print a sheet of paper. Lol. **** that shop.

The bike is currently in Milton, so the steps are to take the bike to a border office with the recall letter to attain a form 1, which needs to be properly filled and sent to RIV. They will process form 1 which will take a few days and then I can get a form 2 which will be taken with the bike to a Canadian tire and then wait again. Once the second form is processed I can the go to the ministry to complete the transfer. This is to the process to the best of my knowledge.

I dont remember any waiting when importing bikes... paid taxes at the border, walked with the form to the RIV counter and paid their fee, got the necessary paperwork and drove to Canadian Tire for the inspection, then to the MTO office to finish registration all on the same day. Maybe something has changed since.

Oh wow, how long ago did you import your bike? The wait times is what RIV gave me, its actually fine as i don't have a pickup so the seller is going to help me get the bike to the border office today and then I'll figure out a way to get it to Canadian tire after that. I've already realized that I'll miss Friday the 13th so sometime next week it should be.

Great news...let's hope you don't wait all summer now!

Do this and post back so we know you did it.
Call that person and tell them to announce to the shop that a pizza or sub lunch will be provided on x day.
Place the order and deliver the food and drinks to the crew.
That will cost you about $100 and they gave you your dream.
win win

Alright so a quick update for everyone interested, the bike was trailered to a border office (401&Dixie) where the officer didn't even come outside to match the VIN, gotba form 1 and paid GST (5%) of the bill of sale. Next went to RIV with the form 1 and the accepted recall screenshot and was given Form 2 after paying 195+tax. I was shocked at how smooth everything was going so proceeded with the bike and form 2 to a Canadian Tire, everything was going well until they looked for the stamp on stock exhausts that they met a 80dba rating but there was nothing on the termignoni exhaust. Luckily I had the stock cans at home went and checked and they had the rating so threw those on and back I went. Once the tech say the stamping all the paperwork got stamped and faxed to RIV. Next day I got my Canadian ownership papers and a 10 day permit and today had my bike pass safety with flying colours. One more ministry visit and she's fully plated and legal. What an exciting time.

If anyone has any questions about the import process I'd be more than happy to answer them, no a pro by any means but fresh experience.
