have you guys see how to catch a predator?

Funny show but there was one time I actually read some of the chat logs online from when one of the "pedos" was baited in and there is a bit of entrapment going on.

Basically this is what I saw:

-Lonely dude enters chat room, starts taking to a "15 year old girl"
-"15 year old girl" initiates sexually charged conversations, sends the dude sexy pics (which were really pics of a 24 year old) and offers to meet
-Dude is hesitant but the "15 year old" insists it's ok and she wants to meet and likes older man
-Dude shows up, is busted and is called a pedo

......kind of ruined the show for me to be honest. I'm sure at least some of the guys are legit pedos and it makes for good TV but some of these guys probably aren't as guilty as the show makes them appear and I'm sure their lives are ruined after.

If he knows she's 15 he should end the conversation, regardless of how "enticing" she's being.

wait, so you are telling me some of these pedos are innocent??????!!!!!
of course they are guilty. If a 15 year old invites you for sex, doesn't mean you have to go with the flow. As an adult they could always say no or whatever. This shows how motivated they are.
Its like setting up a bait bike, and if someone comes to steal it, i can't say well he is not as guilty, of course he is. He showed up to steal it!!

I call that entrapment & she certainly doesnt look 15

The man is looking at a 24 year old woman's sexy naked body who wants to have sex with him. Biologically, all the impulses he's having are perfectly RIGHT and he's not attracted to a child. But than you claim she's 15 and he's a pedophile just based on that? If you joked to some guy that you're 17 and he believed you and still slept with you could you charge him with being a pedophile even though you're over 18 just cause he THOUGHT you were underage?

Also, you gotta consider the state of mind some of these guys are in. Dude is depressed, feels unloved, etc. maybe hasn't been with a woman for years and suddenly some girl tells him she wants to be with him but only catch is that she's 15 despite looking like a grown woman. Than, when the dude is having second thoughts because he is a moral man she does everything in her power to convince him to sleep with her anyways. When he eventually cracks he gets busted. Who's the real predator in that situation?

EDIT: Do you think without the baiting this guy would go out and molest children? Of course not....he only cracked because of a very very improbable situation that would never happen in real life. How many 15 year olds do you see going around begging grown men to have sex with them and than charging them with pedophilia after?

Not sure I buy the entrapment claim.

I have zero interest (other than family or family friends) in what's going on in the mind of a 13 year old stranger. I have zero interest scouring chat rooms for conversations with same. To then claim entrapment after actively looking to connect with what society/the law/common sense has deemed 'untouchable' seems laughable.

Not defending these guys, but what if they were in a "normal" chat room and this 15 yr old start talking sexy to him?
...and she looks old enough to be 21+ ??

Dude's life can go into the crappers. Lost your job and you ability to get one because of the record

You do make very good points, but the last one im not so sure of.
On one end they're asking for it, its not like the guy is seeking it out, on the other its still illegal.

Another ridiculous thing is in some places 14 is legal, in another 15, 16, 18 etc..16 if you're 2 years older or less its ok etc...
These laws are far from perfect and i even read about a case where two consenting teenagers had sex and the guy ended up in prison because he was older then her by a couple years and in that state the law was written in a way that she couldn't consent.

Yes, I have seen this the girl was 15 and the boy was 16 or 17. He got a charged.
Those guys know what they are doing. They are old **** men hanging out in kids chat rooms pretending to be kids too.
How come we don't see the Priests going to jail in a public way. It amazes me how it's okay NOT to arrest them.

what if she says she's 15 and looks about 40 years old? What if she's obviously lying about her age?

At what point is he guilty? If she looks 24 years old he's guilty and if she looks 40 he's not?
