I guess maybe it's the type of the bike I ride and where I ride it most (country roads) but I have never actually been pulled over by police while riding.
They have not attempted to pull me over either.

My questions is this - do you guys feel the "eye of the popo" is on you more while riding vs. the cage? Expected answer would be yes but my personal stats prove me wrong and the mileage I put on the bike is not that far off from what I put on the car.

To make the poll simple and to avoid committing oneself - if police tried to pull you over but you didn't stop, count it as a yes. I am curious to find out if you caught their attention not about your evasive maneuver skills.

RIDE program doesn't count, they check everyone.

I've had two speeding tickets in the past six years.

First one was in a toyota echo and was on trafalger road when it was under construction. Got nabbed for 85 in a 60 as the speed was reduced.

Second time was about 2 years ago on a matte black truck bed liner painted KLX250 and the cop picked me to pull over out of the cars around me going the same speed (85kph in a 60 on Eglinton near Dixie)... he seemed surprised when I took my helmet off that I am not a 20 year old hooligan.

Lastly, on my Vstrom somewhere on an interstate in Kentucky I crested a hill alongside a car with both of us going about 85mph in a 70. The cruiser's lights came on, I put my blinker on to pull over and the car kept going -- so the trooper chased/caught the car and ignored me.

In 2006 I bought a grey Tacoma... haven't been pulled over since... ever. Before that I had a yellow, lowered ranger. I was getting pulled over about once a month for "random" checks

I've never been pulled over on my bike in 14+ years of riding. I've had a yellow 1999 GS500 and a black Z750.

I voted never been pulled over, period. In my 40+ years of riding/driving I have never been stopped for a random check other than RIDE.

My current bike is almost invisible to the police; however, in the past I have owned a few that tended to stand out, BSA with straight pipes, FJ600 with a Yosh pipe and a GS1150EF with Wolf pipes. I also had a 73 Camaro that was more than a little in your face. Yet with all of these, plus a few more, I have only been pulled over when I deserved it, typically for exceeding the limit.

The last time I was pulled over was in the summer of 2013. I was speeding on my ST and after a short chat on the side of the road the OPP officer let me go with a warning.

No problems with cops in a long time. Last ugly pull over was on a XL350R in 1998 on which I had "forgotten" to remount the mirrors after transporting it in a van. I was dressed like Captain MX and, like Motorcycle Mike, the cop was visibly disturbed when pulling off my helmet revealed a classically handsome gentleman. Cop still played like a dick for all it was worth tho.

Things always play out in my favour when a female cop pulls me over. Now thinking back, everytime a male cop pulled me over - I gotten a ticket.

Pulled over more in the car. Probably just because I've been driving about 3-4x longer than I've been riding. Plus I tend to ride more carefully than I drive since cars are safer and don't fall over if you brake too hard and all that.

You voted for never being pulled over and then told us how you've been pulled over a bunch of times... Am I missing something here?

Got a few warnings on the bike. I view most of these warnings as harassment. They were all non-sense. Even had an OPP officer go on about worn tires. The tires were fine not even to the wear bars. All you can do is be quiet take the sermon and go about your business. Personally I think they are just fishing for people without insurance.
Never got any warnings in the car, always resulted in a ticket.
They are just doing their job generating revenue, OPP---> OUT PICKING POCKETS :).

Just got a ticket (28 over) near Wasaga Beach...unfortunately exact same area that I was pulled over 7years ago for a similar speed.

Never pulled over on the bike but then again I'm a bit more careful riding then I am driving.

Still deciding if I should fight it as I'm pretty sure I wasn't speeding there due to the layout and weather factors, but it's $100 and 3 points...not sure.

What do you guys think? I obviously don't have proof that I wasn't speeding. I don't mind making the trip to Barrie to book the date and all that fun stuff.

Was riding on Yonge St. back in 1987? with my friend. All of a sudden the Toronto police blocked off all the streets and forced us onto the sidewalk. Did the whole bust thing, but they found nothing. We had Quebec plates and they thought we were some Hells Angels they were looking for. We were pretty blown away, but in retrospect we did look the part.

Devil is in the details. Trust me on this.

Always worth fighting. You'll be kicking yourself for not fighting it when you look at your insurance renewals the next 3 years...

I get pulled over in the car at least 1-2 a year. Never been pulled over on the bike until last summer, copper didn't like the way I was switching lanes so he pulled me over and slapped me with a careless charge. Requested for a disclosure, nothing came in. Requested for a disclosure again and the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.

I was pulled over by a motorcycle cop while riding my 600 years ago doing 180 on the 401 E near Oshawa. He wrote me a ticket for speeding (160 in 100) and summons to appear in court. He was pleasant and a nice guy. He said if I would have taken off, he was unable to catch up, so, would not have given chase. He was riding a Harley. He also mentioned that he already made a mental note of my licence plate number.

I took the day off and showed up in court about a month later with my ticket and summons and the clerk said there is no record of the ticket or summons. She stamped it and I went home for the day.

I actually got a ticket for "worn tires" on the bike. The dude, pulled me over and combed through my entire bike, even checking my horn (!!!!) looking for something to ticket me for (I did nothing wrong). He finally found that my tires were close to done so he gave me a ticket for that. He also pulled over 3 vehicles at the time and they WERE ALL BIKES while like 20 cars passed by so he obviously was a bike hater. I DEFINITELY get more attention from the POPO on the bike. I even had one cop pull over onto the shoulder ON AN ON RAMP when I was behind him, just so I'd pass him and he could run my plates. I had a passenger at the time too so not like I was out doing anything bad.

We'll see this year though since my former car was a POS so I would rarely speed wheras my current car I've only had about 8 months and I've already gotten pulled over once. lol

The stats might be a bit biased. I'm guessing some of the people voting have probably been driving for 10+ years and riding for 2 years. If you've gotten pulled over once on the bike, and twice in a car, 0.5/year is still more then 0.2/year.

Yes, stats are definitely biased and we can't fix that but with that in mind it is still interesting to hear about other people's interactions with the "force."

I think the type of the bike/car has the most influence on cop's decision to pull you over. Anything associated with racing gets first dibs.

How can it be any other way? I only get eyeballed on the Buell. Pink house insulation isn't the most effective sound attenuator.

Before I started riding, I thought that bikes in general get more hate than cars but I don't really see it that way nowadays. I believe that police actually responds more to noise level on crotch rockets than the way they look because most of them can't tell a sport tourer from a super sport. Loud cruisers are weirdly exempted. Maybe because the perception of them being slow, especially with some 400lbs dude on top. ;)
