Conclusion: your coworker is an ahole and army guys are awesome.

I know!! It drives me nuts having to work with the dude but I just ignore him and remain happy in the fact that at least I know for sure not to ever trust that dude with nuthin. The medic was on his way to Pickering to surprise his parents who didn't even know he was back yet! I swear I felt like the worlds biggest ahole myself cuz the dude insisted on staying until I reached my buddies to come sort me out. I'll never forget that......

Oh yeah, almost laid out two days ago on a right hander with a tar snake, got a nice little wakeup shake out of the deal.

Glad you were safe and everything worked out fine. You have the contact of that army guy? is he married? :D he sounds like a perfect husband... hmmm....

Twice, but all was OK. First time on the old CB, I parked in a buddy's gravel driveway and didn't ralize how soft it was. As I was walking away I noticed the bike start to lean and ran back to it. I grabbed it and eneded up pushing it over on it's other side. No damage I could see, as it's a '75 and beat to hell anyway.
The other time was last fall on the CM on one of those really cold mornings. There was a spot on one corner that had been wet for several days and I wondered if the city water pipes were leaking under the road. I came up to the corner to the stop sign and surveyed the situation. Water and slush all over the road about 1/2" deep. I thought I could handle it and headed through. I made the corner and after straighteneing out I looked down where the water was bubbling out from the road. I don't know if that unbalanced me, or if I hit a bit of throttle when I twisted my body, but next thing I knew I was spinning across the road following my bike. We stopped and I jumped up checking for traffic. A couple of cars had stopped, and so I immediately grabbed the handlebars to jerk the bike back upright. Right hand on the throttle and pull makes the engine rev, bike still in gear, standing on black ice all makes for an interesting time. The bike took off spinning around me as I scrambled to get my hand on the clutch or reach the killswitch. I finally got it stopped and pushed it to the side of the road. The car drivers were pretty wide-eyed by that point. Lesson learned: If (when) I ever drop one again, shut the bike off before lifting it.

Personally I don't like the way the yes/no answers are phrased...I'm a noob...but I've not dropped my bike where's that option!? LoL and I'm being honest...but haven't dropped the bike. I don't believe the mantra that EVERYONE drops/crashes their bike, or is destined to.

I've had some times where it came close:

1. taking a curve on a slick/cold pavement and the front end started washing out. The 125 was light enough I just kind of yanked on the bars and pulled it back up...not sure how else to describe it...

2. gas station as I was putting the stand down my foot slipped but I caught some traction with my foot and was able to hold it up

3. put the stand on grass and it started sinking fast but was able to catch it

So I guess if I had a bigger/heavier bike I would have a harder time catching it in these instances and would probably have dropped it.

I know guys that put more km on their bikes in a year than I do in my car... and I drive for work. Despite their experience, even they've laid down a bike or two (or four or five).

I was always hoping I'd never be part of the crowd that has dropped their bike this year has made sure to change that.
