Has anyone tried to get insurance for a SS with an at-fault car accident on record?

31. Im going to be talking with another agent when I get off work. Ill let you know what I get quoted.

EDIT: Just got off the phone with another agent, and was quoted $126/month which is consisted with what I was quoted with the other agent who tried to scam me into a life insurance policy.

That beats what I'm paying now for a GS500F with Jevco. Are you throwing your car with them or is it just the bike?

I'm hoping you being 31 doesn't play a huge factor in this =(

EDIT: Btw, TD wanted to charge me 11,000 for an 2009 CBR600RR. I might as well ride without insurance and try to outrun very cop if I had to pay that much.

That is just the bike. If I insure my car with statefarm the car alone would have been $700 a month (not a typo) dosent help that the car is cobalt ss supercharged.

Im sure being 31 helped quite a bit. I think if your under 25 you're just going to have to bite the bullet and wait it out.

I'm turning 25 this September hence why I was gonna wait till next year for the SS.

Thanks a lot for the info.

Wow, 1 at fault is all you have and they want $700/month for a 4cyl coupe?
Thats just rediculous.

I think thats their sublte way of saying we dont want your business. I called td for quote and they pretty much just hung up on me lol.

Argh...I'm considering moving once I'm finished with my degree. The **** we pay for here from tuition fees, to insurance, to taxes is starting to piss me off.

You could crash 10 times in the US in a year and probably still have an insurance that equals the regular rates we have here!...That is assuming you crash alone and dont' get sued of course.

Have you seen what tuition costs in the USA at a good University? My courses cost anywhere from $2000 to $7000 per course. Insurance is about 25% cheaper in the USA these days.

All depends on what type of insurance you get.
I know a couple guys that pay under $100/year and have 600 SS and litre bikes.

25% my ***. I'm in 4chan's FB motofag group (dunno why they call everyone fags lol). They puked when I told them my insurance, $2000/y, is considered cheap when you're pre 25 -__-

But yeah I suppose there are up and downs in any country. So finish education here and gtfo is my plan.

I also have no idea what the hell is wrong with our claims here. I mean do ppl crashing on vehicles seriously make that many claims? I've paid 10,000 total since I started driving and made ONE claim that cost a total of 1600 to repair some ****. Apparently everyone else is making claims in the 100,000s?

....God damn ragu.

Comparable coverage to here......1 million in coverage etc etc. I wasn't going to ride around in Michigan with minimum coverage. I'm afraid I never heard of $100 a year for insurance on a SS lol

On another forum a couple guys laughed when I said I paid $850/year for full coverage. I had to tell them that it was actually a good rate lol.

If you truly want to see what you will pay in the USA go get an online quote. I just did one on the Allstate website and it came to $1600 a year for the economy plan, which is not as good coverage as what I have in Canada. I pay $950 a year for full coverage for a SS.

Have you done that or are you just taking your buddies word for it?

Well there were 2 guys from Ohio and 1 paid $134/year for a CBR 954 and the other pays $120/year for a 600RR.
I can't do an online quote as they are with SF.

Edit, Just did one with Progressive and the Basic package was $113/year, (But it definitely didn't look like alot of coverage lol)

Call state farm.

I payed $650 with statefarm for a Cbr929 in 2002 in MI, and have no idea what coverage your friends have. I am certain it would be more than $650 as my quote indicated now.

The only reason why I have insurance is so I don't get pulled over and charged $5000. Screw coverage, it may come bite me in the *** later but I'd rather take the chance than go broke doing something I love...which is gonna happen anyway lol

All talk.

(Might hurt your chances of moving to the USA with a criminal record too, even if you have some special skill or education that they cannot fill from USA citizens that is.)
