Like every other holiday in the christian religion, it's plagiarized from another religion. In the case of the bunnies, it's rabbits symbolizing fertility in pagan spring celebrations. Eggs, same.
And himself-son was only dead for a long weekend. Hardly worth mentioning. A good bender lasts longer.

Some religions have been treated as mythologies, and games (e.g. D&D) played using them.
Judaism & Islam are special cases now, as there are laws protecting them.

Tim O'Neil is an atheist himself, for the record. He's also a historian, and has decided the terrible pop history takes smugly shared online, or by scientists like Sagan and Degrasse-Tyson (who are great science communicators, but terrible historians), need corrected. It's no good to be patting yourself in the back about how much smarter you are than the stupidly superstitious if you're also dead wrong...
It's called punching up, and since Christianity is the dominate religion of the western world (estimates of 70-84% identify as) that's the way it rolls. Your not exactly being "thrown to the lions" still.

Lol that's a ridiculous argument. By those standards, since white people were a minority in South Africa Apartheid was ok and justifiable. There shouldn't be any punching done at all and everyone should be doing their best to get along.
