I'm not anti-gathering. I'm anti-*********. The way this one happens with everyone pretending they are loved while hooning around, pissing off everyone else and crashing I am not a fan of in any way. It will be interesting to see what the enforcement numbers look like this year compared to last year. I suspect you are right and they are documenting for now and writing tickets later (ride checks on the way out of town with a free stunting ticket?). Alternatively, they just enter all the data into their database so when these people are inevitably pulled over, that cop shows no mercy.OPP likely put some officers with cell phone cameras in the crowd in plain clothes, used some drones, and then let the idiots have enough rope to hang themselves as opposed to active at the time enforcement.
Personally I have no issues with gatherings like this assuming they have the appropriate permits and organizers are held responsible for anything that goes sideways.
It looks like the actual high end cars went to port hope for a burger. No police escort, no piles of tickets, a nice day in the sun. They left H20 for the civics, mustangs, chargers and subies.
You miss the point. They are going to come to Wasaga Beach regardless if the OPP are locked and loaded or the army is called in to stop them with tanks. And here we go. Over 200 charges (down from 380 last year). Mayor is ******. The asshats are definitely not as loved as they think they are (big surprise there).
Wasaga Beach weekend rally leads to nearly 200 charges laid
The mayor of Wasaga Beach want more police officers brought in to protect the community after an out of control weekend.toronto.citynews.ca
“Over the past weekend, the safety of our community was repeatedly put at risk and this is not acceptable,” reads a statement from Wasaga Beach mayor Nina Bifolchi.
“A group of individuals participating in an unsanctioned car rally visited our community and broke the law. This included careless and dangerous driving, the operation of unsafe vehicles, damaging public and private property, breaking into businesses, disturbing the peace, and risking people’s lives.”
Bifolchi say there were clearly not enough police resources to handle the unsanctioned gathering. She says she would like to see the Solicitor General get involved.
“On behalf of our town council and all residents, as well as our many law-abiding visitors, I call on Solicitor-General Michael Kerzner to ensure that the OPP are properly equipped and prepared to ensure that Wasaga Beach is not put at risk again.”
I appreciate the response. You miss the point. They are going to come to Wasaga Beach regardless if the OPP are locked and loaded or the army is called in to stop them with tanks.
They will still get in as proven by 2020, 2021.
So what do you do about it? It's Wasaga Beach. Were you here to see the locals watching the cars and enjoying the show? There were 5 year old kids out at 11:00 pm watching with their parents.
Maybe they learned a few things from the OPP busting windows out of trucks in Ottawa...only its not - 27 degrees here.
A beach town was raided by zip and muscle cars. Big deal.
I'm starting to wonder at what age do you forget being young? Not you specifically, just in general.
The problem will disappear on its own as all the freedoms of the beach will be taken away as the beach has been sold by the current Mayor without telling the residents anything, or the price it was sold for or even asking the residents if they want it sold. As such, she won't be the Mayor much longer...but the beach has been sold regardless.

There are speed bumps everywhere. The roadworks dept put temporary speed bumps down...the kind that drill into the asphalt on every inlet road in every direction.I appreciate the response.
The simple answer is temporary speedbumps on every road into town. Keeps out all the lowered vehicles. Probably need provincial/county involvement as town doesn't control every road.
As for forgetting being young, being young and being an ******* are different but many people get them confused. If the attendees are all ballers with lots of money to spend, rent TMP, have the party there and enjoy the track/drifting/burnouts, whatever you want. Tons of fun, no cops, no tickets.
The comments about the mayor making deals not in the best interest of citizens may be valid. I don't have enough information to know. Leaving it abandoned for years was clearly a waste of money that didn't benefit anyone either.
Not sure about that. One weekend of asshattery shouldn't affect price much unless you picked that weekend to do your open house. They spread out into springwater too so the entire area got to feel the love. That was less publicized though and wouldn't show up in most searches for people researching an area. Crap/uncertain treatment of the prime waterfront lands would have a far bigger impact imo.The ricers are probably hurting the real estate market big-time.
Pat King and Tamara Lich started a movement that is still ongoing. I'm not sure if you're aware of the shot Canada fired around the world...the realization that banks aren't real and your money can be seized at any time.Pat King and Tamara Lich said they couldn't be stopped.

Nice to see kids having fun again!
