Hello :

I'm from chile, i came a year ago and just today got my M full license after a lot of bureaucracy...

28 years old
M full license (got it in oct 15, 2013) I skip the waiting time cause MTO consider my previous experience in chile, but insurance Co. doesn't
ducatti supersport 800s
zero tickets, suspend or accident, completely clean

its been really hard to find insurance
I don't know whats the game, but every time that i contact them they say something different.
it seems like they dont have idea about the business

well.... i called all of the people that this site listed (insurance companies and brokers)
it helps but still getting quotes for more than 4.000 / yr
i think is too much....

does anyone know about this issue,
does anyone know what to do in this case??

thanks in advance

Pd... i started the process when the summer start and now the winter will come and im still not having insurance
im eager to ride it....so, Pleaaaase!

The most expensive motorcycle insurance in the western hemisphere.

Insurance won't look at out of country experience. If you look at yourself at a rider who is in their first year, riding a Ducati, that quote seems about right for ontario. If you want cheaper insurance, pick up a 250 and ride for a year, then switch to the Duc, otherwise bend over.

Hi Mono,

Do you have a car or any car driving experience? This can help reduce the bike insurance price.

Other than that, your options are:

1) Add a driver to your policy who has been M licensed for 3+ years
2) Use a rural address for your policy - also known as insurance fraud, or;
3) As other posters have suggested, move to a province with fair rates

Feel free to PM me any questions.

Do you want to ride?
Or do you want to own a Ducati?

Seems to me at this point in time you can't have both. :(

i don't understand why people buy bikes before calling insurance....mind boggling

Some of us don't understand why insurance is allowed to be a legalized scam. It's mind boggling

Sent from my piss poor iPhone while sitting on my squidly gixxxxxxxxer sippin on kool aid

Statefarm don't care about the brand of bike you ride just by cc's they might be your best option. Plus you have to be over 30 to get more "discounts".

Just sold mine to some kid that didn't even have a license. I might feel bad for him if he didn't hop on and take it for a spin around the parking lot without asking while I was showing it to him. He's not gonna be happy when he finds out his insurance rates. Will probably ride without a license or insurance anyway, though. Kept asking me if I could lend him my plate. Obviously I said no.

As an insurance broker shouldn't you be telling people not to commit insurance fraud? Assuming that the person is listed as a secondary rider when in reality they're the primary (#1)?

Lol, hop on your bike without permission for a test ride? I say screw it, as long as you have cash in hand, you don't have to worry about what happens to him in the future...
