H-Ds 2021 fourth quarter financial analysis

Thorough review of a PanAm.
Yikes!

I rarely watch those videos, even though I enjoy them and value their opinion (MCN).

Two things come to mind:

1 - It reinforces the old idea that you should avoid the first model year. Let somebody else suffer the gremlins.

2 - You dodged a bullet. Given what I've read about your wife's health challenges, and the general issues around life during a pandemic, that is ABSOLUTELY THE WORST MOTORCYCLE you could have bought. The aggravation and disappointment would be infuriating at the best of times.

I did dodge one for sure.i thought that the PanAm would be different. I should have known better. A co-worker had a Road King that was in for annual cam problems and assorted electrical issues.Harley built the Dyna for years with big handling problems and yet people still bought them. It's an interesting cultural thing.

Ouch.

Regardless of type of bike, i wouldnt want to continue thinking about where the closest shop/dealer is when i throw a leg over for a cruise.

1st year, QA problems and then dealer service problems, low production volume so "sold out". Lots of innovative features from HD and, historically they seem to have lots of reliability issues with basic engine components.

These are unusual times, we'll have to wait a few years to see how the market accepts this bike once its teething problems and supply chain issues are resolved + how reliable are these bikes going to be when they are 3 - 4 years old? I predict it will be a slow seller and will be gone by '24 or '25.

A puddle of oil?!?!

Underneath a Harley?!?!?

NO WAY!

From the rear suspension. One of the big selling features of the PanAm is the premium suspension. I think this engineering dept is stuck back in the 40's.

Not to dump on some poor guy who thought his new Harley was going to be a great bike but........... where have you been for the last 30 years and do you read and have basic comprehension at a grade 3 or above level??

Anyone, anywhere would understand that any HD, in particular a new model, was going to have tons of issues and would be very unreliable. It's not like this information is hidden and just not available to ordinary folks. There's this new great invention.... it's called the internet....... Now, if you buy into the great HD mystique and want a legendary (??) bike with a great pedigree you buy a Harley and you pay the price and presumably you're happy, or at least you pretend to be.

I'm in upstate NY and 2 HD guys come over to look at my ST1100 as I'm filling up the tank at a gas station. They look at the odometer and see it registers 120,000, then see my Ontario plate and they look at me as if I just dropped in from Mars. I tell them the 120k is km , about 75,000 miles, but they're still blown away and one of them asks me if I'm on the original engine. I tell them the bike's about 15 years old, original everything and all it's had is oil and filter changes. Then I rub it in and tell them I have friends with 150,000 - 200,000 miles on their bikes and they're still running like new. They looked amazed, but no Honda converts that day I'm sure.

I have a brother-in-law who lives in Long Island, NY and is a RUB.
When I suggested he ride down and meet me in Daytona for Biketoberfest he looked at me like I had two heads.
It would have taken him maybe 2 days to ride, but the only way that bike was going to get there was on a trailer.

Good thing RUB's all have a pickup truck to pull the trailer.

RUB?? Rich Urban Biker ??

At the risk of supporting your PITA BIL I get the trailer thing............ I've done many 1,000 km days on my ST, but I've also trailered my ST south to Maggie Valley, NC for 4 - 5 days of riding to get there quickly vs. a brutal ride down I75 in the rain for a day and a half.
