GXR600 vs. R6?!?!?!

Gixxer

-Adjustable rearsets
-Built in rear signals (no goofy aftermarket signals or $100+ fender eliminator)
-A,B,C Modes (power selector) C is very useful in March and early April
-KYB steering dampener
-Super comfy seat after a few thousand kms
-Wicked trunk space
-Really simple to work on
-GEAR INDICATOR!!!

From what I understand the R6/R1 is a track oriented bike that hits the powerband waaaayyy to high for on the street.
But what ever makes you happy, but dont listen to gixxer haters (there are a lot) they are just jealous that they spent 4-5gs more and got ****ing pumped by a gix!

No, but in all seriousness you will get idiots talking **** about every bike, they are all so similar that it comes down to three things Fit, Cost, Extras (extras being what one bike has over the other like the list i just made)

That list of OEM included features is a very good point for the GSXR you can save a good amount of $$ on essential mods suzuki already includes.

That being said you should choose a 600 by two things.. what one you think looks the best and which one fits you the best (go sit on them all).

The mid/low range power point is mute as all 600ss are gutless down low, that's what the -1/+2 520 conversion is for.

I disagree. The difference in power between the bikes is noticeable. Even when you do the sprockets the difference is magnified.

are you seriously asking this...there must be 400 threads on this same topic.

if yamaha made cars would you drive a Suzuki? or a Yamaha? LOL

who won moto gp for the last ever? Yamaha or Suzuki? oh wait, suzuki doesnt have a big presence in gp.
(the answer is yamaha)

Is he looking to compete in the MotoGP? No. Does the Yamaha M1 share anything with an R6? No. Which bike makes more power? Not the R6. Which bike makes more streetable power (aka midrange)? Not the R6.

I don't own neither, but its pretty clear to me that you get more bang for your buck out of a GSXR. It's a better street bike, hands down absolutely no question about it. If you're a poser trend-whore who is overly concerned with what people might think of his ride, then sure skip the GSXR and the stigma it carries and get the inferior R6 so your buddies will think you're cool. If you want a better street bike, head to Suzuki.

the Gixxer 750 i rode on a demo on Sat seemed pretty nice. Wasn't crazy on the seating position, but if the rearsets are adjustable it would likely sort out that complaint. I can't imagine the seating position being much different on the 600. Mind you, it's the first SS I've rode (have a 250 Ninja currently) so naturally it all felt a little foreign at first. By the end of the ride (about 40min) I was getting used to the ergos and I felt really good on it. Still want to try out the 600 version and the R6/ZX-6R/600RR/Daytona 675 before I decide what to get next. I never thought I'd buy a Gixxer, but the sound that thing made was mind-blowing good, and the power was just so smooth.

I totally agree, most of what I listed I didnt realize till after I bought it...

Oh and it has four way flashers
flush mount front signals
and a pass light (couldnt live with out it)

I am totally spoiled!

Go ride your yamaha into lake ontario. If your biggest knock on Gixxers is "they are a squid bike" that really proves your incompetence and lack of ability to research. JUST BECAUSE THE GUYS ON YOUR HONDA/YAMAHA/KAWI/etc FORUM SAY ALL GIXXER RIDERS ARE SQUIDS DOESNT MEAN ITS TRUE! Learn to form your own opinion based on fact, and the fact is.... Gixxer is an all round better machine ESPECIALLY for the street!

is this really what we are working with on this forum...?

This is true, the B on the 2011 is the C on the 08-10. The B mode on K8-K10 gixxers is kinda pointless because its so inbetween. I think I tried it twice...

I see DJSquid ****ed off

lol - Now that I have a Gixxer, I am glad Yami riders are taking the bad rep away to their side.

now on the serious side:
I have a 750 and wasn't aware the 600 also had the A,B,C mode - I see this to be an advantage on a newer rider that is afraid of a 600 power compared to a 250. Start by getting comfortable on mode C and work your way to the dark side.

Adjustable foot pegs - Not sure if the 600 has them but if it does, this is awesome as it allowed me to make the bike more comfortable.

Integrated turn signals- he is right, you would have to spend a few dollars on any other model and it wont look as nice as on the GSXR. However you will have to spend even more changing the ugliest exhaust known to men. I regularly don't care about looks but jesssssss

I watch every motogp race, but using it on making a decision on what bike to buy is ridiculous....and if that was the case then I would be buying a Repsol Honda

2011 season

Qatar = Casey Stoner Repsol Honda
Jerez = Jorge L Yamaha
Portugal = Dani P Repsol Honda
Lemans = Casey Stoner Repsol Honda
Catalunya = Casey Stoner Repsol Honda

You bought a GSXR750? Nice upgrade! Did you end up buying new or used? Which year? Excited for you, especially after how you lost your bike.

yea, 2010 with 3000km on it

I have a bias, but I enjoy my 2nd gen R6.

It is way more streetable then the 3rd gen (more midrange) and the ergos are better for street riding.

That's why Yamaha continued it from '06 on as the R6S.

That is true, it is ugly. Most people change their exhaust anyways. A great way of doing it is to take the headers from a K6/K7 gixxer, then you open up many doors

nah, Cut the Cat, put a straight pipe and a slip on, M4 is my preference and on the mail :) lose about 15 pounds on the bike

Ya Im going M4 (did you get yours from Motomummy.com). For me its a toss up, if I can find the headers (for cheap) Ill go that route if not then Ill just make a mid pipe

In the UK magazine "BIKE" they tested the latest supersport bikes and the verdict came out like this:

1st - Triumph Daytona (almost unanimous)
2nd - GSXR
3rd - CBR600RR
4th - ZX6
5th - R6 (almost unanimous)

The triumph has been getting some good reviews...lots of praise for the triple motor. heard a lot of good reviews about the new GSXR too.
They weren't too impressed with the CBR and the ZX6 and they all felt the R6 was too gutless on the street with a rev happy motor.

I do agree with what most are saying though...buy what you like.

Even more importantly....buy what's the most confortable!

UK magazine picked the 675, shocking
