Guitars

Whoa. Not totally sure why they needed an authentic example in the first place when nobody except the most ardent guitar nerd would have noticed the difference. I feel the same way when I see muscle cars smashed up in movies, though that's not as common as it once was (and were often beaters with a fresh coat of paint)...
My daughter's BF just got back from the guitar exchange in Chicago and yeah, no excuse for endangering a museum piece. They have various clones.

CME is incredible, and they have a pretty decent YouTube channel, too. Gruhn's in Nashville is one of the few places that's more legendary in the vintage guitar world, and in their Fender department, look what pops up as the top four most valuable (USD pricing):

Neither of those '58s is as clean or original as Bernadette's, though, with refrets and/or rewiring.

Years ago, I was really into guitars - I think I own about 11 or so plus 5+ amps.
All collecting dust, It was something I did with my dad, and we he passed so did much of the interest in playing.
It makes me sad at time to see these wonderful things just collecting dust..
Maybe one day, the passion will return?
By far the best way to get the passion back is to play with others. I stopped playing out when we moved from BC and then covid hit, and mine are much dustier than they used to be...

That would require being social... blech.. But I agree, While I am not willing to do that it is the best way.

Touche, and can't say I'm following my own advice. Had a pretty good circle of musician friends in BC, but less so here.

Not sure your level of tech savviness, but playing along to songs in Rocksmith can be fun in a karaoke kind of way, and there's a whole community dedicated to creating unofficial versions of songs you can download.

I hear you, at this time it is something I have zero interest in, so I don't push it, if things change down the road... We'll see...

While I’m horrible at playing I enjoy my cheapo guitar. Bought my son a little kids’ one also and he was jamming on it for a while until he got bored and moved to something else.

Might go and search for a cheap acoustic as all I have is an electric.

I have one if you're interested...DM me your email address and I'll send you some pictures...

How has @Matt Rain not weighed in on this thread? One of his jobs is guitar adjacent.
Hi!

Cool idea, I like it. That said, it's very hard to innovate in the field - the instrument has remained largely unchanged for so long. The fact that we still use unbalanced cables and 1/4" phono plugs is hilarious - it's literally 19th century technology.

Best of luck to the inventor. ✌️

Best of luck to your nephew!

I've been thinking lately how easy it is to learn now vs when I did by ear and trying to hold the damn tab book up. Some of these young female players are amazing!
