GTAM/Grand Bend Weekend! Aug 24/25 2013

I have a number of pictures from Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, red and yellow groups only. I will get them uploaded to a facebook page over the next few days and post a link for anyone interested. Here are a few for now. Quality is poor due to the forum attachment compression requirements.....They will look better on facebook.

Lol, these are nice! Can't wait to see all of them, maybe even find myself somewhere in there :)

This was my first track day, and I had an absolute blast. Thanks to everyone involved in putting it on, I learned a lot in a very short amount of time, knocked 10 seconds off my time from the first day to the second, and even got my knee down at the end of the day on Sunday.

A huge thank you to the marshals for helping me figure out the reverse alien, while not my favorite layout, I did start getting the hang of it. I'm going through my GoPro now and will have the footage up shortly. I'd love to see any pics from the green group.

Nice vid. What were the passing rules for green that day? Looked more like yellow group.

Worth the wait - that is a fun video and very nicely edited. Thanks for posting it.

What were you riding? It seems like you had a lot of snot compared to some other bikes on the track, basically walking away from them exiting corners.

Assuming the forward-facing video beginning around 4:15 is you, I think you could work on maybe getting your upper body over to the inside a bit more. The camera angle makes it look worse than it is, but your outside arm is so bent that it is clear that you could get your upper torso off the bike more in the corners. That will get important when your corner speeds have you running out of lean angle, so you might like to practice it a bit now. Just a suggestion - everyone has their own style.

Thanks. Passing rules were basically get your passing done on the straights. At 1:10 I sorta forced someone out onto the grass. Technically that was part of the straight, but I had no clue he was there. Felt bad, so I let everyone go by on the back-straight.

Thanks for the feedback! I was on an '04 600rr, I just threw in clips where other bikes were in the frame, including marshals/riders behind marshals (which is why it might look like I'm really pulling away). It certainly didn't feel like I was pulling away from anyone, especially the first day when I couldn't get out of my own way! :D

Suggestions and feedback on my riding is always welcome and appreciated. This was my very first trackday, so it was a steep learning curve. By the last few sessions on the second day (after I finally got a knee down), I really focused on moving my upper body, but it's definitely an area that needs improvement. One of the guys I was there with said I needed to drop my inner elbow, and then I'm guessing that will straiten out the outer if I'm thinking about the movement right?

That wasn't your fault at all. It's always up to the person behind to make a smart, safe decision about passing. Trying to run up the outside of somebody on corner exit, not smart or safe. haha...

I guess I was thinking of the passes at 5:50 and 6:00. Too easy. Maybe the other guys just weren't on the gas? In green group there are always a few that never use full throttle for some reason. Anyway, I would kill for that kind of power advantage. The only guys I blow by like that are on 125s and 250s.

If that was your first track day I would say you were doing bloody excellent!
