GTA has some of the most boring / amazing motorcycle riding in the world.

You don't have to tell me. I got an Epic Pass and spent the whole season at Whistler.
Strange, I always liked Blackcomb way better.

Clutt was right, go east and follow the rivers north, the glaciers were kind to us and completely trashed all flat landscape for our enjoyment.

Do you guys ever ride Prince Edward County ? Some nice riding roads there, just don't over-shoot your turns.

I've done the area dozen or so times but other than the wineries I don't find anything to make me want to go back. Better riding going north from there and going either West/East/More North. Renfrew has some excellent riding roads in great shape that isn't busy, same for up Eganville area.

Whistler is for skiers from Ontario and the prairie provinces. There's a bit of everything.
Friends would come to visit and we HAVE to ski Whistler.
Next day I'd take them to Blackcomb. By noon they're trying to trade lift tickets(the hill opens at 10).
Blackcomb is for SKIERS. Remember the moguls at Blackcomb? The Blackcomb mogul section is bigger than all of Blue Mountain.
I used to hold the record for being banned for life at Blackcomb, at least 8 times, once twice in one day (Don't jump off the chair. They're watching with cameras and they get REAL upset when it resets).

If you get to the coast, try to ski Mt. Washington the morning after a snow.
I had never seen so much powder.
I hate powder.

They're the same resort now. Also first chair is 8:30AM, but they let people on the gondola at 8:15AM, so you can actually start your first run at 8:30.

There's even a Peak-to-Peak gondola that will take you from Whistler peak to Blackcomb peak in less than 15 minutes.

Both are good for different reasons. Whistler gets more sun in the morning, so we usually start off there and then hit BC in the afternoon. Also different pow conditions, you gotta ask people coming off the P2P gondola to see if it's worth jumping hills.

I guess you haven't been out riding lately, the bugs have made their return. My front bat wing already has splatter. ?

Yep, got my first bug splatter about 2 weeks ago on that one 18 degree day.

There used to be a coffee shop!

Laugh about Forks all you want, it's no Stelvio Pass but it used to be a great place to strike up friendly, casual conversations about motorcycles

It's cool and all, but it's about 5 minutes of cool. Then, assuming you're not stopping and socializing, it's just back out into mediocrity.

Personally, even living where I do where I can be out "in the country" inside 5 minutes from my driveway, the problem is that I've ridden every single road there is to ride inside a 100KM radius a million times. And even then, 90% of them are boring.

Things don't get interesting for me anymore until I'm at least an hour away from home to the north, or several hours to the east.

? you like faster roads! Try the road from Tamworth to Parham and north through Mountain Grove

We're definitely not California, but we're not in a bad spot for weekend rides if you have the time and don't mind some mileage. Could always be worse, like living in the midwest or Florida.

- Decent riding a couple hours north
- Pennsylvania
- Virginia
- West Virginia
- Vermont
- New Hampshire
- Upstate New York

Some good times. This list reminds me of how I learned the hard way there are a lot of places on the east coast called Newport

Yeah Whistler/Blackcomb are great ski destinations. I spend a whole day around 7th Heaven bowl/tree area. Just a blast.
You know when there is a powder day as everyone making first tracks is hooter and hollering, it's pretty insane.

One year I made the mistake of skiing W/BC for a week, then came back home and skied Blue Mountain... felt like I was a on a baby hill and just went straight down.

It just not worth the cost.
Grew up in Quebec city, which has way better skiing than ontario, not as good as the rockies. (at least from my experience)
Yes it is, but lots of ice, and friken cold! The only time I found powder conditions was one time a Jay Peaks. Felt so unusual to find it out east.

Yes I lop that area in when I mention Renfrew area. Lunching around Westport area while there before heading back home.

oooooo Westport, very trendy, you can buy Australia Outback stuff there.

So true.

Another thing the locals do is camp out at the lifts to 7th Heaven, Glacier Chair, etc on Pow Days. They open the good runs an hour or two after the main gondolas open so ski patrol can set off the avy bombs. But people are willing to forego first tracks on the main runs so they get a crack at fresh pow up at the peaks and the glacier before it all gets skied out. By noon, those runs are all tamped down already.

All these little local tricks you pick up.

Isn't this thread about actual riding? ?

What's wrong with Florida, all year riding?? I did a drive from Sarasota to Tampa following the coast, was a great drive, I am sure it would be horrible on a bike.... ;) :sneaky:

You can't drink the water there.

I plan on riding to Florida in the fall, leave the bike in storage and enjoy some long weekends down on the bike.... that’s if the beer virus backs down.
