How many times can we ride the forks?
what’s your favourite day ride from the city
What’s your rant that you wished you lived in another part of the country or world.

I really enjoy my rides up through Northern Ont.
Hell, even the trans Canada N. of Sault. Ste. Marie and T. Bay is nice...
My favorite place to ride though is BC.

My friend lives in the Rocky Mountains and skis all the time there.

She never once came out to ski with us in Ontario. She was a total ski snob.

After living in and riding a bike through other places in the world, I would probably think twice about owning a motorcycle in the GTA. Especially with the insurance prices the way they are.

I understand how my friend feels now.

Go east my friend go east.
Once the roads clear up then go north. Great roads all the way from Port Carling all the way to Calabogie. I have 11 routes planned in my gps ranging from 380km all the way to 1000km. I find 500km loop is a nice day of riding.

Ive downloaded an app called scenic that lets you map out a ride before you head out. I have yet to actually use it on the bike for navigating. I will update once I’ve used it. Hmm maybe I will start a thread on that topic.

Where is “the forks” I’ve always heard about it through this group and the Mustang club but don’t believe I’ve ever been.

Is all good, it's Beautiful out today!
Tomorrow forecast even better  and so far no bugs.

Forks of the credit road.

I guess you haven't been out riding lately, the bugs have made their return. My front bat wing already has splatter. ?

My rant would be to move to BC, ride year round, however I hear insurance isn't any cheaper there. My sister lives in Calgary so visiting her would be nice and easy, and the roads+potential for recreational stuff, endless.

That said. last year i gained an appreciation for Ontario, mainly because I made trips out to Virginia and the Adirondacks, I realized I can comfortably live in the GTA for a few years and visit those places with enough roads and rides to last a lifetime. Then there's the idea of doing an East Coast trip to NS.

For day trips. I like Manitoulin Island and looping back down, some nice roads and past the ferry really empty. Muskoka like Southwood Rd13 are classics. I am pretty fedup with taking the 400 series hwy to get to those places now though. So keep the bike around to check off things, like the Mt. Washington Hill climb rally this year (hopefully it happens)

I dunno I like any roads as long as I am enjoying being on 2 wheels, straight or twisty, just out there. But yeah getting out of the city does present some better riding. But then again I don't mind a slow cruise in the city checking out some of the interesting areas/neighbourhoods, taking some side streets etc.

If I was to pick a place to live and ride it would be Spain. Sun for over 300 days, heat almost year round, and various terrain, good roads not impacted by snow or cold weather.

I mean the biting kind, black flies will be first :| followed by mosquitoes.

Went to check out a car yesterday at Lakeshore Rd...holy **** the little annoying flies are back! It's the only thing I don't miss about moving away from the Lake.

The Forks is a Tim Hortons without the coffee shop.Just a posefest.
There used to be a coffee shop!

Laugh about Forks all you want, it's no Stelvio Pass but it used to be a great place to strike up friendly, casual conversations about motorcycles

It just not worth the cost.
Grew up in Quebec city, which has way better skiing than ontario, not as good as the rockies. (at least from my experience)

When i moved here, i just...had to use blue mountain.
Going to the states (bristol mountain, holiday valley) is nice, but it's far.
Eventually blue mountain became even more expensive than it already was and i called it quits on ontario skiing. The lift prices in Quebec are similar but you mountains that are WAYYYYYYYYY higher so you get your money's worth.

SO for motorcycling, same thing for me, when it was newer-ish to me, i'd do longer day rides, most i did was 1000km in a day (to Quyon through backroads and the 500s and back through the 7) but is it as thrilling to me now to do these roads.... meh!?
I go out maybe once a year with "the boys" for a bit of twisties in the muskoka area and i think that's about it. Otherwise my motorbike has become my workhorse and i might get excited again in a few years when kids are older and i can plan some weekend rides maybe across the border.

You don't have to tell me. I got an Epic Pass and spent the whole season at Whistler.

Even with the premature end of season COVID shutdown, my average cost per lift ticket was $28. Canadian. Tax in.
