Group riders - bikes with no CAT and the fumes behind

I'm not sure if it's just me, but found that when I'm in longer grup rides and have bikes with no CAT converter exhaust front of me, after an hour or so I am getting serious head ache from the fumes .... I'm not a sensible person for migrane kind of things (OK - drinks are exception ;)), but want to know other ppl's experience with this. Definetly don't want to descriminate anyone riding bikes 4-5yrs or older, just courious about others' experience with this.

It's been talks about the noise level (especially if you are right behing one with the straight pipe, lol) - but not sure if this topic has been discussed yet.

Most people love that smell.
If it's getting to you, just hang back a bit more so that fresher air is getting to your lungs.

Yeah, there's a reason why people die from air pollution.. :) It's quaint for the first 30 seconds, then it's just irritating..

When you guys become real bikers, you will understand what I said.
Untill then I think you can rest assurd that the small amount of Carbon Monoxide you actually breath is far undone by the amount of fresh air mixed in with it.

Don't ride behind me, lol. Personally I've always loved the smell of gasoline, I would wear it as cologne if I could. When I used to go on group rides hardly any bikes had cats anyway. I can see it being an issue if the group is stuck in a city or town, or if you're all just idling in a line, but once you get out into the open it shouldn't be a problem.

I love the smell of two-stroke in the morning! Nothing better than a slightly rich, 250cc MX rocket when it's warming up for the first moto of the day! I tail my buddy all the time and I'm about 6 feet from his catless R6, it doesn't affect me in the slightest. I do love the fumes it omits and the flames on downshift on a brisk night.

I'm a little hard right now... lol

True - if the smell is offensive to you, it will stress you out and give you a headache..................not the carbon monoxide. It's not so much being a real biker, but being around exhaust alot - ie snowmobiles, boats, PWC's, etc. You should see, hear and smell my 78 Mercury Black Max 175hp outboard engine - LOL!

Too funny...lol

Some people are cockroaches and some are canaries. Don't sweat it if you're a canary. You're the ones that will sound the alarm when we all can't breathe anymore. Just don't go to China!

it has nothing to do with cat but everything to do with the removal of the cat and improper air/fuel mixture that results from slipons/cat removals/full systems without having a proper tune done after.

i rode behind a buddy with a harley who just had his pipes put on...the mixture was so far off that i couldnt follow him at all because it made me nauseous...a week later when he had it tuned the bike was fine....loud as hell but i couldnt smell anything.

You wait until you get stuck behind me! Two pipes pumping out pure 2-stroke smoke for a few hours, your whole front half will be covered in sut :) (its not really that bad, but it make my clothes smell when i'm riding it, so i can only imagine what the person behind would smell like)

I haven't been on any massive group rides, but I also dislike the smell of exhaust with cat. I sometimes start my bike in garage, and even with door open it stinks.

I used to ride with a group of two stroke bikes.
Two GT380's A Water Buffalo, and a Kawi Triple.
I was on my CBB350.

If you don't know what a Water Buffalo is, you're too young.

If you find out what a Water Buffalo is, then research what is an RE5.

Follow a bike spraying unburnt fuel for a while, and you'll long for the smell of exhaust.
