Group of Motorcyclists wanted...

Y all just mad cause u can't wheelie. Can't wait for the next big ride lol

I can wheelie, so what? I understand you're having fun holding up traffic, doing the rebel thing. I admit its fun watching you guys freaking all the normal people out. But... I think we're really worried about what's going to happen when you and the herd run into some borderline psycho in his high-powered pickup truck. I don't want to see the 5-6 dead riders and three others paralyzed for life. There has to be a better way.

What happens with the Aboriginals and a blockade involving a land claim falls under federal juristiction (RCMP) and the OPP would sit on their hands , not particularly scared, just not in a position to enforce federal law. Has nothing to do with the discussion, just letting you know.
Well I think you're not exactly correct on this. The land dispute is federal. The blockading of a highway is still provincial. When they dug into the highway with a backhoe, I believe that was provincial as well. The muddy one would be where they stole an rcmp vehicle, GTA is a provincial offence, but at the same time it was federal property. As for the assaults, while that's a provincial offence, they could also be considered hate crimes.

Really the whole event was muddy af, but doesn't change the fact that there were provincial offences taking place and opp sat on their ***** and watched houses burned, cars destroyed, people assaulted and the road torn up. Oh and by the way, it doesn't matter if the crime is federal or provincial in nature, or whether it's RCMP/OPP/ or local municipal cops, they're all tasked with enforcing both fed. and prov. codes.

Lol
Been riding 15 years noob
Seen people like you come and go to the bike scene every 1-2 years

The only thing coming and going will be your cell mate, when the OPP are done with you

In my earlier years of riding I was out with another rider waiting at a light and 2 sportbikes flew by going the other way.

5 minutes later we got pulled over cause he thought we were the same bikes. Luckily I had a passenger and the Officer was smart enough to do the math that we weren't the same.
If I didn't have the pillion who knows what would have happened.

I think I'll start riding with my hard bags full time now to make my bike look less sporty.

Same thing happened to about 10 of us on a group ride, some years back. An OPP cruiser cut in front of the group and stopped us, thinking that we were another group who had ripped through a small town at three times the speed limit. I can say, with personal experience, that having two officers exit a cruiser, one with a hand resting on his gun, certainly gets your attention.

Technology defeats bad rider behaviour......

Riders (including myself) forget that technology is keeping us honest. You could have a high probability of success to outrun a cop at one time, before the invention of police radio 80 years ago. Later when the cost of helicopters came down, police bought and use them. Then came cell phones where irritated drivers can phone in a nut case and get a policeman on the scene quickly (it's like the public has now been equipped with police radio), so everyone is a cop. In recent years, half the cars have dash-cams which record the whole event complete with a pic of the license plate, and which SD card is dutifully copied by the police. One could buy a fake plate or steal an existing one, but if you are ever caught consider losing the impounded bike and paying thousands of $$ to a lawyer who would bring temporary comfort by holding your hand but not likely get you off something so stupid. So ride like you want to keep your license cause it's a privilege, as there are now "eyes" everywhere.

My concern as a rider is the dim future of riding with electrification, automation of driverless cars, the linking of individual car computers to a massive city computer to integrate traffic, and the likely banning of bikes on automated roads/highways. But by that time I hope to have left this planet on a ride to a better place to meet my maker.

Re: Well, this will help the motorcycle image in Toronto!

I thought there was something that could already be used here? Something about needing a permit from the city if you were planning a group ride/drive. Not sure what the repercussions are for not bothering to get the permit.
This group was for the most part on provincial highways. No city permit required. Again you have to loacte and prove who the "leaders" were. Simply taking photos of licence plates as was suggested earlier is also a no go, who do they charge? You can't prove who the rider was from a licence plate photo. Also many of these bikes don't have a plate to begin with.

Now for some other points.

As for the police setting up a road block, to effectively shut down say the 401 to prevent a single bike from escaping you would need at least 20 cruisers, for the front then at least that many at the rear, (does anyone here honestly think these guys, wouldn't simply run the wrong way up the shoulders to escape)?? Then of course you would have hundreds of innocent cagers also caught in the mix, who would be all over media screaming how horrible it was that they were illegally "detained" for hours, Let's not forget you now have the bikes stopped you have to id each one, and transport for processing, and have the bikes towed, all this would take hours to tow 400 bikes.

Many here, who have no clue as to how policing works, trying to stop a crap show like this in progress is an absolute NO win, especially if ONE rider panics and tries to "escape/flee" and ends up injured or dead.

As for the asinine comment about high insurance rates "cause" these idiots to ride like this. I am sure the actuaries at all the insurance companies see this and thought "wow what mad skillz those dudes have, we need to immediately lower SS rates".. GMAFB. Also doesn't explain why these types of rides occur in the US where insurance rates are substantially lower. I guess they must have different motivation in the US...

A line of police cars won't work... You need a few of these..

Re: Well, this will help the motorcycle image in Toronto!

Well, Uber's self-driving research program was having difficulty avoiding motorcycles and bicycles, so maybe.

Re: Well, this will help the motorcycle image in Toronto!

Here's an idea from:

Reverse the code for avoiding motorcycles to collecting.

Send a warning out for riders to NOT RIDE during the next idiot riders gathering.

Run every single one of these ****ing retards into the ground.

Vehicular network connectivity has only just begun development and knowing how some companies *cough* GM *cough* deal with their security features, it won't be very long before a hacker releases a man-in-the-middle injection attack.

.......hell, PLau, wanna do some research...for science? >=)

P.S. I am not actually for mass murder, even if that group is full of dickless twats who think pulling wheelies down the 4xx highways is a good way to demonstrate how well behaved motorcyclists are.

You've got it all wrong. It's for motorcycle awareness.

So people are now aware that there are @ssholes riding motorcycles.

I almost laughed...

.....then I remembered that all motorcycles that aren't cruisers are sport bikes to the general populace.

Re: Well, this will help the motorcycle image in Toronto!

You guys call yourselves riders?
Wishing death to those that participated?
BTW only a small percentage were acting like goofs, just like every other group ride
