Group of Motorcyclists wanted...

Gawd I hate agreeing with you....lol.
But yeah, I saw that on the news. Guilty by association. Bull$#!+. What if you were riding along, these guys pass you, and stop ahead, and now you are a part of the group and have to lawyer up. I repeat, bull$#!+.
Good thing I stay off the 400 series most of the time.

You're safe on your cruiser. xD

So why wouldn't they take the same damn alternate route in this situation? In fact, the lack of notice to the public would ensure the alternate route would actually be less congested.

Not trying to justify what they did, just pointing out that the highways being closed for any reason other than construction, is stupid and counterproductive.

How is anyone suppose to know that a bunch of *** clowns are going to just randomly stop in the middle of the highway shutting it down? If the closure is planned they plan an alternate route.

Let's bet on me changing that username ?.

Funny how in your rant about me you failed to realize that you're portraying the exact same characteristics you are trying to pass on to me.

I'm curious what method you used to sum me up in that category of yours... Hmm..?

One thing you're right about is that there is definitely only a few of me and ALOT more of you. So thanks for that compliment.

looks like you got me all figured out.....just like riding..................damn you're good at this

Meanwhile, natives blockade a road in Caledonia and the OPP sits on their hands, too **** scared to do anything. A bunch of dufus bikers clog up a road for 20 minutes of stunting and whoa nelly, out comes the police spokesheads and legislators waving their arms screaming "won't someone think of the children?!?"

You're probably an old dude who's had enough fun for one lifetime. Let the kids be rambunctious. It's their time.

Not old in the least bit, just semi-responsible and don't need to try and impress anyone.

I like riding, don't want it to cost me anymore than it already does, and just want to make it home after each ride.

Ever speak to someone who tried to get insurance (ie: so they can get to work), after receiving a driving/riding with no insurance ticket? Better hope you can find some nice studded tires for your 10 speed.

Re: Well, this will help the motorcycle image in Toronto!

Guinness Book of World Records for most 'brain buckets' and back protectors over t-shirts in one spot.

How is this enjoyable for anyone, it gives me anxiety seeing people with no more than a 1 ft radius around them and the next set of bikes. Clearly these people have never seen a Tour De France pile up.

Re: Well, this will help the motorcycle image in Toronto!

I swear there's got to be a Hollywood movie coming exploiting this. That guy who makes the Fast and Furious franchise has to be foaming at the mouth thinking of the profits.

Re: Well, this will help the motorcycle image in Toronto!

Toronto Police and OPP sit there and complain this happens but do nothing to fix the issue. Like last year taunting cruisers on the Gardener with wheelies and boxing them in, nothing happened. Speeding bikes ripping through Mississauga last year, one crashes bursts into flames and a couple accidents. Nothing happened. The list goes on. These meets are posted months in advance all over social media. Don't cry on CP24 that these bikers must be stopped and caught when it seems like nobody is doing a thing to stop them.

How hard would it be to have 6-8 motorcycle cops in these meets, recording plates and gathering evidence. Charge anybody doing ******** after the fact.

What happens with the Aboriginals and a blockade involving a land claim falls under federal juristiction (RCMP) and the OPP would sit on their hands , not particularly scared, just not in a position to enforce federal law. Has nothing to do with the discussion, just letting you know.

In the past I have been riding along and a big group of bikes appears. I gtfo out of the area, first ramp, first gas station,, whatever. I don't want to be a part of whatever happens.

In my earlier years of riding I was out with another rider waiting at a light and 2 sportbikes flew by going the other way.

5 minutes later we got pulled over cause he thought we were the same bikes. Luckily I had a passenger and the Officer was smart enough to do the math that we weren't the same.
If I didn't have the pillion who knows what would have happened.

I think I'll start riding with my hard bags full time now to make my bike look less sporty.

As much as I hate stone chips on my vehicles, does anyone have a hookup for gravel trucks? Need to put them on standby for the next mob ride....

This is the biggest problem I'm seeing.

When you compound this with the HTA172, I can't blame a cop for wanting to impound me after seeing a giant group like this and thinking I'm part of them. So what am I gonna do? Run.

The whole situation is going to spiral into ****.

There was a time police got heavily involved in a native blockage. A disaster called The Oka Crisis happened as a result and people died.

Might want to google that story if you don't remember it.

Now they wisely decide to take a more chill option instead.

Also, though not strictly highway related, the Ipperwash Crisis. I think the more recent hands-off policy was requested by INAC, unless blatantly violent or dangerous activities are witnessed. No need to mix emotional protesters and gung-ho police.

I saw these guys on the gardiner except I was going the other way. This has me wondering, what if I was going the same way and got tangled up among them and then the cops showed up and pulled me over, how would I prove I wasn't a part of it?

Be careful what you wish for. It's what they'll do to fix the issue that worries me. If they can't get the goofs, they'll get go after everyone, probably with a law. Riding in groups of more than 5 will be illegal or some such ridiculous authoritarian decree. Make no mistake, this won't be allowed to go on. They're going to fix the problem, this year, next year, and none of us will like the solution.

Probably have to prove it in court (eg. I was coming from x, here is a witness that says I was with them at x:xx time. I was headed to x to meet a friend, here is the friend that was annoyed when I didn't show up). That should be enough for reasonable doubt.

Otherwise, hope you had a camera running that show you had nothing to do with the group (eg. they caught up to you and were all passing you at the time the stop happened) and a cop that isn't a dick and will watch the footage and let you go (although they will probably snag your footage before you leave).
